Really well done lads. Has to be the hardest grafted for 3rd place ever considering the problems you've had.
I like the 2 pints of lager next to the bubbly...things are being done in team DarronWall style as always!!

Darron wanted a bit of a write up from the weekend so here goes. . . .
We kicked off with a trackday on the friday as a track refresher and to set the car up. Got the car off the trailer and it decided to start dripping oil despite it being fine the night before . We had a butchers and it looked to be coming from the oil cooler but with the inlet manifold on we couldn’t tell. Darron spat his dummy out again as the car has ground him down so much that he had lost any enthusiasm and said he was loading it up on the trailer and buggering off. I convinced him we would sort it and we had to at least try so just as we decided that we were going to start stripping it the oil leak stopped and didn’t drip another drop all day. The car has a mind of its own and on the first lap the car misfired badly and threw an eml. Turned out one plug was damaged and the rest were swimming in oil that we must of spilt with the many oil refills we have done over the past month. Grabbed some old plugs that were fine off team cliffie and out Darron went. Car seemed good and Darron was happy and didnt want to touch the set up of the car so even the tyre pressures were the same as it left Snetterton. I went out in my car with a big heavy passenger (I had loads of excuses on the day but I cant remember them all now
) Anyway Darron followed me out and i tried my hardest to get away from the fecker. Had some sketchy moments as I pushed on and had to let him past. Everything was good and we were happy with the donkey and our confidence was high. Left the donkey and Darrons van at the track and he went home in my van. Didn’t have a problem lending Darron my van as I new he would look after it. The following morning he told me how he had his kids rolling around in the back as he was wheel spinning it everywhere and oh yeah “it sits at a ton quite easily”
.
He went out in warm up and set at 2:02 lap just getting our eye in and quickest in class. Umar got towed in and apart from the traffic making it hard to find space we were happy. We didn’t feel the need to change anything so Darron went out for practice and did a 1:57.9. As he got out the car I asked him what was wrong. He looked concerned and asked why. Told him that he was very slow compared to everyone else and he couldn’t get his head round it before i told him i was winding him up and we were quickest in class . I checked the car over and found the wheel had been rubbing on the wiring loom, soldered and cable tied it out of the way. We stuck the undertray and diffuser back on as we hadn’t bothered refitting it since the engine change. Neil Clark (John turbos team) was having problems which we didn’t want to see as we were looking forward to having a good battle with them. Time for qualifying so as there’s points on the table we were ready to see the pace that Umar and Ronnie had. Umar had gearbox problems and didn’t set a time, Ronnie did a 1:55.9 and we managed to improve our time but only to a 1:57.1. Darron felt there was time to be had but not much and traffic was our biggest problem as we struggled for space. In the final Ronnie won with a 1:54.1, Umar sorted his car and did a 1:55.3 and we came third with an almost identical time to qualifying another 1:57.1. Darron still felt like he could have got more out of the car but realistically with two almost identical times i reckon that’s all the car had in it. Makes you wonder if we could of changed the setup to try and find some time but we were happy with the car and didn’t want to risk making it worst.
We were very happy with third and the way the car performed. Darron also won two TAKATA harnesses for being a “hard charger” what ever one of those is. Impressed the bird behind the bar at Oulton though and Darron gave away the cap he had won the big flirt. Great weekend and we are looking forward to Donington. I think we need others to have mechanicals if were going to do anything at Donington as i think it really favours powerful cars. Been quite a roller coaster this season but weekends like this reminds us of why were doing it and it’s a nice reward. Fingers crossed for last two rounds.

Massive result for team Donkey, don't underestimate what you guys have achieved this year and keep on it Dazza; don't lose faith.
On Friday, Darron was noticably quicker than we were in a straight line and there was little I could do about it and your car looked really mustard.
Ronnie has upped his game again this year so finishing behind him with his car and experience is no loss at all. The boy can pedal.

how many events left?
it sounds like Ronnie turns up the power for the final, does one banzai lap hoping the engine won't grenade, then back in.
can mmg give you a special map for one lap wonder. takes about ten minutes to swap them.

Ronnie has a decent digital boost controller with something like 7 different levels of boost and does indeed box clever. He will go out and set a banker lap then come in, he will always go out again to try to improve but doesn't spend the full session circulating at pace. He is a wise old sage with Time Attack and has the tactics well set out.
There are two more rounds to go for Dazza at Donington then Brands, both in September so we all have August off...wahoo.

Ronnie must make a set of tyres last a whole season.

this is on the cards, liam has a map ready written. We are thinking of a trackday at donny to test it out as the car is already pretty much maxed out but we can find maybe a little more boost but we need to know is it worth lunching it for very little gain??

I've lost track of what the engine has got on it
Stanard Z20LET engine with balancer delete
Blue VXR injectors
K04 turbo
2bular 3inch straight through exhaust
Apexi open cone dry air filter
80mm AMM
Underdrive crank pulley
MMG stage 4 IC
Water meth injection kit in intake pipe between IC and TB top hat
External recirc off TB top hat
Lightweight flywheel
Helix 4 paddle clutch
Quaife LSD
Uprated fuel system with external pump feeding swirl pot
Im of the opinion we should stick with what we have, the injectors and turbo are pretty much at their limit as are the engine internals. A better inlet manifold would be nice. If we were close to Umar and Ronnie then it might be worth risking the engine expiring but the fact of the matter is that if their cars run well then we arent going to be able to compete without spending a shed load of money on an engine rebuild which will then bring its own problems. Both of their cars look like they could go bang at any moment and we stand a better chance of letting Umar push Ronnie and Ronnie push Umar into blowing their cars up and us picking up points. If we could somehow finish this season in second place then i would be as pleased as punch and it would be a shame that we didnt have the car right before the first round at Cadwell. It would be nicer to be up there competing for the win each round but it seems we have to concentrate on being the best of the rest and see how it pans out.
Be interesting if it pissed it down for the last two rounds and we had Liam back the boost off a bit. Every round has been dry so far so we dont know how we look compared to any of our competitors in really poor conditions.

Car handles well and theres not a great deal of weight to loose although there are areas. Driver training is probably the best bet its just finding time. Had sessions booked this year at circuits then not been able to do it because of car probs. 3 seconds is a massive gap to find and who knows if Ronnie couldnt go even faster if he needed to. Get your point though as a complete day or two with an instructor and data logging would make an improvement. Its Darrons time and money and his call but as the gap from the two in front in terms of times not points is quite big then i would save the money and continue to do what were doing.

Ronnie hates the wet; fact. He really struggles to get the Sierra pointing in the right direction.
