Hi All,

I'm going to go and look at a car that seems to be very good value. Low mileage, service and MOT history and decent price. Only problem I can see is that there's bubbling on both rear wings.

Any idea how much it'd cost to get them both resprayed? Can anyone recommend a body shop in North Hants or Berkshire?

Pictures of bubbling attached.

Does anyone out there know anything about this car?

Would appreciate any advice before I go to see it. Even better: I can make it worth your while if you fancy coming to view it with me, as I'm a first-time VX buyer Posted Image

It's on Autotrader in Southampton, I believe.

Cheers,
Sam.

Tough question - I got quoted £400 for a front end nose respray, blending it in half way up from Back On Track about a year or so ago now I'd say a ball park figure of between £500 - £600 for pro bodyshop rear clam repair and respray? It could be more, it could be less. Best thing to do would be to nip over to a body shop with the pics and get a rough price

That paint damage is due to moisture in the fibreglass. A 'proper' repair (to ensure it won't come back) will be more expensive than a quick fix blow over to make it look nice. I'd budget £600ish as probably best to get whole clam stripped, baked then sprayed.

These guys are awesome. They specialise in bikes so great for our little plastic cars. http://www.roadrashpaintwork.com/ Mines booked in for a complete spray in April.

At 5k that seems like a very good price especially if it includes the nice extras shown in the pics such as turbo spoiler, alcantara interior, hard top etc. It is not currently showing as insured but since the owner mentions summer only use it may just be because it's sorn for the winter. Although shouldn't you still have insurance anyway now? I can't find any mention of the reg on here. It has had turbo model rear lights fitted which could be an indicator that it's had a rear end prang or the owner may have just prefered the look, although the fronts (which are standard) are usually the more desired ones and swapped first... Do your HPI checks and as long as it's mechanically sound it may be worth a look. It is about 20 miles from me so I don't mind taking a look at it with you if you want, I don't really know the 2.2 but know of a few other things to look out for.

Just spoke to the guy and he has a buyer coming to pick it up on Saturday - guess my background research won't be required unless the sale falls through. Thanks for the responses.

Look out for the next newbie question from me when I see another for sale that fits my criteria Posted Image
