How do these dates work Joe. Do you pay to come down and watch or what? Would be great to pop down and see the action at a few of the dates.

Not sure how competitive I'd be with a mere 100bhp Joe! Will see how quick I am if get a tow car and down to Brands on 11th December. Take it there is a registration cost + series stickers to pay for even if only doing the one round?

yeah have to be stickered up and to be honest, pretty expensive for one hit wonders, but an experience none the less! also was speaking to my mate earlier who works as a mechanic on lorrys etc and he said you can actually tow 4.25T aslong as it says in the log book that it can tow this much...

So have you got your B+E licence Joe?? I did my c+e which entitles me to my b+e.. Sounds harmless enough but god forbid you have an off with your trailer they would never pay out. Just food for thought i guess

I might take a look. Did want to ideally do break my cherry in 2012 but any series where you have motor club membership and series membership to pay makes a one off race expensive.

also was speaking to my mate earlier who works as a mechanic on lorrys etc and he said you can actually tow 4.25T aslong as it says in the log book that it can tow this much...

You can if you have B+E entitlement, unfortunately I don't.

As long as his total weight of tow car, trailer and VX is below 3.5t and the unladen mass of his tow car exceeds the MAM of the trailer he's in the clear on a standard license

Bloodyhell that is a right minefield looking into that, but seems you are correct Jimmy as long as the towing car is big enough and the trailer is less than unlaiden weight of the vehicle AND the total weight is below 3.5 tonne all in. Including all those factors then he is fine. God damn DVLA why did they have to change the law? It should be either car licence and next step up HGV.. All IMO of course

To those who have done the tests to gain the entitlements to tow - roughly how much would I be talking to do mine? Would there be a need to pay for tuition (having never towed anything) to get me to a test standard? Sorry if this creates a little thread drift Joe, but may be worth it in the end

Unsure of prices but would just be normal lessons through driving instructor so probably £20-25 an hour.. Obviously you already know how to drive so it would just be brushing up ect on the bad habits you might have picked up. Apart from that with trailer on you would just do reverse parking into a bay area with the trailer, uncoupling an re coupling would be the only difference. Oh and differences in speed limits ect when driving on the roads. IMO it should not take that long to learn those things probably 3-4 hours to esp nail the reverse parking n the head and do it with your eyes closed. I never did mine as i got my b+e through doing my lorry licences which was C cat and C+E Now back on topic Joe
