I don't think this situation of both sets of wheels being tyreless will happen very often so i thought i's weigh them.

There is a set of TDs down the road which are also sans tyres so i'll add them later too.

Quite a startling difference isn't it. Being floating AND rotating mass it's super important to get those figures down as much as sensibly possible. PS: I think I can see a spec of dirt on the bottom left rim ;) (only kidding, you cleaning nut !)

Out of interest were the like for likes similar in weight? I.e both rear speedlines, rear td's etc :)

The TDs are only half a Kg more than the OZs

Then add in tyres, which vary LOTS between MFR's and you will wind up with them weighing the same :lol: :(

kinda wipes out the premium Oz's command..... £600 ish for a 200-400 g advantage mmmmmm? and they look near as dammit the same

Good stuff, would be good to compare with oem for completeness. I seem to recall that the genuine speedlines weigh more than oem turbo wheels dont they?

I've said this before, and I appreciate I am some what in the minority. The speedlines are heavy, and not that good looking, the heavy five spoke was designed as a hard duty rally wheel and as such does not really belong on a lightweight. a more delicate wheel suits the Vxelise

What about the Magnesium Speedlines? These weigh 5.0kg Front & 6.5kg Rear although only 6 sets were made and i have 2 sets of the 6, just thought i would throw them into the mix....

Tds do not at all compare to Oz the quality/finish/look is totally different I loved my ozs :wub: Although I simply loved my speedlines more! Yes they are heavy and looked dates but so does the Vx with all it's straight lines and sharp edges :wub: I want a set!

yep agree with that Joe. Speedline is the best looking wheel for the vx by a country mile. And the most OEM if you want a 16-17 set up as they were used on VXR. For some reason they don't look quite right in silver which makes them look heavy. Its all very subjective. Matt, you're come round eventually :lol: The OZs are :wub: too and so light, the difference with the speedline is really stark without tyres. In the end though, as pointed out by Mr borg, once you add tyres at nearly 10kg for an A048 the percentage difference gets pretty small.

Not sure how accurate bathroom scales are when used to measure < 10 kg I have just weighed 2 x 1kg bag of flour on our bathroom scales. The scales indicated 1 kg..! However I agree that the wheels that appear lightest on the bathroom scales will certainly be the lightest if weighed using NASA's most high tech scales. My Compomotive Wheel weights: Front 9.5 kg Rear 12 kg Weighed on the mega expensive scales in our despatch department at work. Does make me wonder whether I should try weighing 2 bags of flour on the scales at work......
