Its not to bad. On half worn R1Rs so not much grip, did manage to go from the side road into the main road sideways but that was just me playing.

Well, got back from hauling island to my work on Sunday night and parked it in the carpark. As you'll know it chucked it down on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Went to put some fuel in it this evening for the drive home tomorrow and it wouldn't open. Got in and there was no power at all, nothing.
Got some jump leads and connected it up and the leads got very hot quickly. So disconnected the battery and charged it from the other car for 10 mins then reconnected. It started but then cut out when disconnected. Alternator light wasnt on though so scratched my head.
You would of thought that being a school of mechanical and electrical engineers I'd be able to get my hands on a mulitmeter, but no.
Tried to figure it out by staring at it, that didn't work.
Reconnected the jump leads and it wouldn't start, just turned over. Realised the fuel pump wasn't going so checked the fuse. That was OK but then it worked. Then didn't.
Wiggled the fuel pump relay and found it was the culprit. From the picture below you can see its pretty damn rusty! So, I'm hoping that is the fault that not only caused the flat battery but the starting/cutting out issue too. Will pick one up tomorrow before my 200 mile journey home, fingers are well and truely crossed!!

It enjoyed that, I think the strop is because I left it out in the rain. Fussy bugger.

Thats a shagged out relay  How do they get so bad ? They have a cover on, nice and dry inside, warmed with the current flow. How old will it be Oh and what will the others be like  .

Most are in a sheltered part of the engine bay apart from that one so I'm going to relocate it when I get home. It was late for a lot of us on one of the corners haha, saw some tyre smoke from a red one about 4 cars behind haha.

Did this years service the other day. Totaled it at £320 so a little better than last years amount. This includes £77 for a new bosch silver battery and £133 for 5 litres of dinitrol and air injection kit. I'm yet to put that into the chassis though. Going to see if I can get it MOT'd tomorrow. Just a little worried about the tyres as there is over 3mm over most of it apart from the very centre. The R1R's have a raised section in the very middle which make them look like they are very worn there. Want to get a little more use out of these and hopefully croft.

Just been for the MOT. Put it on the emmisions tester and the results were: Fast idle 3.2%ish for CO 100 for HC 0.93 for lambda. Obviously only HC passes. Any indication if the others indicate a problem? If not im happy leaving. He then looked in his book and as my cars not listed he says he has to test as a none catalytic car and therefore is fine. Then looked at the rest of the car. Noted the crap design of the center of the R1Rs but said he'll let them slide. So fresh new ticket till 8th June 2014 :)

Just emailed yellowshed on the noble forum about getting the engine checked to see if its healthy and a possible re-map. Wasn't happy with being overtaken on the straights at last years national haha.

It's interesting that your tyres wear out so much in the centre line, mine do the same. Do you have any idea why that might be ?

Normally a sign of overly high tyre pressures.

The centre of R1Rs is raised so there is less tread there the an the rest of the tyre from new. Been using 27psi but may lower it then when I put new rears on make a note across the tyre after each journey and adjust to keep on top of the wear

I run mine with just 24 to 25 PSI, yet they wore out loads more on the centre line area. :(

So, went to start it today and it was flat as a pancake after 3 weeks stood with a brand new Bosch silver battery. Seems like the alarm is drawing more power than it should, but..... Started off a spare battery and sounded a bit rough, took it for a drive and its missing and farting around. So gave it a run to see if its clearing and there a random spots in the accelerator position where its dumping boost and dying, push through that bit and its fine again. So im going to check the spark plugs when i can be arsed today but if its not that its going down to jetstream in bruntingthorpe for them to check lamba sensors, coil packs and injectors and turbo health anyway so I'll leave them to sort it. Then Trevor jasper is going to stick a nice new map on it to make sure its fueling right and to release more power. Just need to speak to jetstream next week to see when I can take it.

No, I don't want to modify the car, a remap i can live with. I'll be happy if it makes 380 though.
