quite often the alternator and starter share the chunky part of the loom , could it be a faulty zener diode?

Its not the ignition/ relay part of the starter circuit, just the main cable to the starter.

This is the wiring diagram.
With the main positive from the battery down to the starter connected there is a drain. When that one cable is removed where it meets the starter the drain drops to 0.01A. Thing is those main contacts in the starter should be open so there should be nowhere for the power to go!

Found the issue. How I didnt have a catastrophic failure I dont know. The power cable has worn against the gearbox so cenneted to the starter it was leaking power, when I disconnected from the starter I pulled it away from the box and therefore stopping it leaking!!

So I need to find somewhere local to male me one up now!

Got the new cable fitted this evening. Went to start it though and the fuel pump wasnt running. Checked its fuse and all the wiring and relays, nothing. Power was not even getting to the fuel pump relay. So in my geniusness I swapped the 4 ECU fuses in the engine bay for new ones. Boom it lives. So just got to put the undertray on and do up the 4 trillion (underestimation) screws for it :(

Mate you are one patient person!!! If my Noble had half the issues I would of sold it... oh hang on I did!!

You up for bringing it to a few track days this year? I have a little gang of us that have pledged to do one a month from April - October this year! one of them being the guy with the red M400 he'd love to meet a fellow Noble owner!

;)

Went to Autosport and spent the whole day with guys trying to convince me that i need to mod it. I've resisted but its only been a week haha!

Its been off the charger for 2 weeks now and the battery is still strong so problem is definitly solved. I can stick it back on the charger now.

Theres the noble national in may at silverstone but its £400! So i may just go and watch that one.

I plan on doing one a year too but as i have the VX220 its probably going to be in that as i can thrash the living daylights out of it with no worries about anything at all!

Turbobob (turbobobs work experience lad ;) ) made me a cable so my laptop can speak to the ecu. Works perfectly and hopefully mines running ok now so I have a base on what the readings should be like if anything goes wrong.

So, the car has been spot on. All I've done over the last few months is touch up about 15 of the worst stone chips on the front. The colour match is never spot on but at least your eye isn't drawn to the white now. Getting quite good at painting lacquering flatting and polishing.

Service time again now though so bought all its fluids. Doing he gearbox and coolant again this year as left them out last year.

It's good to know it's 10 years old this month and still burns no oil at all at 380bhp and 418ftlb.
If it's dry next Saturday it's going on a rolling road in leeds as a PH trip so ill see what a different road says.

Did the service today. It's been a very long day. Air filters off, cleaned and drying. Oil dropped (3 litres of it on the floor) Plugs changed. Under tray off (big pain on the noble) Oil filter changed. Fuel filter changed. Gearbox oil changed All 4 calipers off and cleaned, re copper slipped and new brake fluid. Coolant dropped and fresh in. Air filters re oiled and put back on. Drivers side place back in it original place so they both have the shortest runs of flexible hose to the turbos. Just needs the under tray putting back on next weekend but I'm getting ready to head to work soon so I've given up. Need to fill in and stamp the service checklist too and make sure I've not forgotten anything.

So, what's it's been like recently? To tell you the truth I've not really used it. The Mrs hates getting in it so the only chance I have to use it is when she's working and I can be arsed to go anywhere. Took it up to the national hotel then at the end of July did the Evo 200th photoshoot. Last Sunday I decided to bring it back with me to work as I have to stay here this weekend as I have the duty phone. Discovered on the way down that my horn doesn't work again and the left indicator flashes rapidly even though the bulbs still work. Last time the horn was a stone stuck in it so should be easy. The indicators I'm guessing are a bad connection somewhere. Tomorrow I shall see. Annoying some people at work as they can't understand why they can't afford one when they get paid more (at the same time as nursing a tri weekly hangover). Will annoy them more when I go home in this next week and come back with the vx on a trailer after snetterton. One guessed it's value as £70k though and has a GT86 that he bought new and has a test drive of the new Supra booked (so could afford one really).

Don't worry Rob, I need a minty Exige S1 for my book...

I meant to ask, now you and Rob's cars (the P1) are mag featured, do I get commission on the sale with their increase in value  :D

Car looked good mate. Hopefully the EVO boys treated you well and you had a good day?

Haha, I was thinking of sale time. I have a new copy of the mag to pit in the history folder. Guessing it'll just make it sell quicker rather than increase any value. Still have no thoughts about selling though! Yeah it was all spot on! There's one photo we set up with me, the ferrari and the Ford GT that I haven't seen though so guessing it didn't come out very well. Had great potential though! I've not been reimbursed for some of my fuel (£120 ish worth) yet though. Sent my receipts and then emailed Dan a month later and he said he'd chase it up but that was 2 weeks ago :/ I'll pester him again next week.

Re the fuel receipts etc, not everyone in our industry is especially organised. Chase up if needs be mate...

You missed out on the noble meet at silverstone Monday, weather was excellent, I took the vx and gave at good thrash, I know it's expensive but you have to do it once :) got taken out it a well sorted noble (bright green one) and to say I was shocked at how fast it was is an understatement

You are absolutely right about those in the mob with the perpetual hangover but no money. I see it all the time, Flight Sergeants driving sh*t cars, no mortgage or deposit to think of, but a beer belly! Crazy.

I don't really have much chance of getting weekdays off work. It was a struggle to get the 22nd off for snetterton. That will be tux's one I think. Did it have time attack stickers on it?
