There's a Buyers Guide to the M12 in this months Practical Performance Car magazine. Looks like they might have based their common problems list on this thread.

Haha, there were alot more on the early ones so its just the stragglers im catching up with on mine

Yeah, they said with each iteration of the M12, lots of the silly problems had been fixed/improved. Lots of mention of exhausts/manifolds and your fuel pump and cutoff mods. Also said what a pain in the arse the battery and oil filter changes were.

PPC's (or more like Noble Motorsport) advice was to look to Urban-Racing, Hayward & Scott, Alunom or Revolve for replacement manifolds/exhausts. Doesn't sound cheap though. :(

Bummer. I assume there is no point fitting second hand manifolds as they're likely to incurr the same problem? Do the after market manifolds address the issue or can they crack too?

Ive heard a few of those name thrown around techie but i think the prices are around £1k each. Apparently the new standard manifolds are much better but need to speak to Jetstream (a specialist) really. One of the guys earlier in this thread was saying that his new standard one are much better. There are no second hand ones as they are replaced when they crack. Welding isnt any sort of permanent option really

i think my main worry is them cracking, breaking down and eating both the turbos. If all that was after the manifold was the exhaust and outside air then i would do that in a heartbeat

It's a common problem but that doesn't make it any less painful on the wallet. Definitely don't risk driving it (hard) now that you know. And at least you've found out before the turbo munching. Yes, the uprated Noble ones are good. I don't see the point of more expensive alternatives unless you plan major power mods and lots of track work. I've not dealt with Jetstream but you know how highly they're regarded on PH. If you like, talk to Skippy at Bespoke as well - he knows the Nob inside out and did my manifolds.

Downloaded an app called colour touch. Quite a good app. Did this all by myself although i have the touch of a rhino

Also got the proper prices for the manifolds. £480+vat each. Then about £70 for the gaskets. Not sure about the studs and nuts.
A mate is seeing about getting some sort of trade prices for me but im not hopefull.
Going to wait till im moved in, hopefully over the next few weeks then get it all ordered.
Going to get some exhaust wrap for the part of the exhaust that goes under the car too and some heat reflecting sheets as the stuff uner the intercooler and airbox is pretty tatty now

So, the big service starts today. I say starts as I'm still missing a couple of bits but I need to get it started. MOT is due next week and I'm away for a few weeks after this weekend. Hopefully finish it in 2 weekends time as I actually have a bank holiday off!

The parts so far then:
Posted Image

These are,
10 litres of 5w-40 shell helix ultra, factory reccomended stuff £55.76
6 NGK BR7EFS plugs £18.82
A Sytec bullet fuel filter £65ish
A ford oil filter £18.94
A Merlin motor sport rollover valve £46.82
100 feet of exhaust wrap £110
Gaskets from Nissan for each side of the turbo £62.54
3 litres of miller crx 75w90 nt gearbox oil £44.97
Halford 5.1 brake fluid, power steering fluid and 5 litres anti-freeze £33.31
2 sheets of nimbus £91.57
A pro alloy oil breather £165

A total of £712.73 so far.
I'm picking up some locking nuts today hopefully for the manifolds, should be around £20 and the parts from noble which are being made at the min will be here next week. These are the manifolds, gaskets between manifolds and heads and studs to bolt them to the heads. Should be around £1100.
Looking at a grand total then of circa £1850, I have gone to town though so the next few years will be a lot cheaper. Thank god I'm not paying fitting too :/

A couple of picture treats from last weekend

Mark, if your exhaust manifold or exhaust manifold has gone you should talk to an engineer called "Dave H" on here as he works/worked for Noble fixing various issues including the exhaust system. If you PM me I can give you his contact number if you like.

That may be duncans mate that I met at donnington ? :/ I could get the old ones welded but there's the risk of bits breaking off inside then going into the turbos. The new standard ones from Noble are supposed to be much better quality!

Well started at half 2. Rear clam took all of 5 seconds to come off. I love that :)
Posted Image

Then intercooler box came off.
The heat shielding underneath that needs some Nimbus :/
Posted Image

More heat shielding thats crap, and exhaust to remove.
Posted Image

Rear part of exhaust off. Only needed the dremel for 3 nuts :)
Posted Image

More space to work
Posted Image

Rear manifold off. Not sure it should be in 2 parts haha. They were still joined, just about.
Posted Image

Just need to get the front off now but stopped for some tea. 4 hours work so far!

Good effort... But think the Autosol needs cracking open... JG would have a fit looking at the engine bay in that!

It helps with my carbon footprint :)

Got the front turbo most of the way off. The part of the exhaust that goes under the engine wont come out though so i started removing that part of the floor. Stubborn stupid screws though so i gave up for the night.

Also just ordered some oil pipe for the turbo oil returns as they are splitting. The coolant pipes to the front turbo have gone solid and broke apart when removing so ordered a meter of coolant hose for them.

The air intakes from the filters to both turbos are past it. One has a large hole in that was taped up by a previous owner so ordered 2 meters of ducting.

As ive taken the very rear floor off ive ordered some mocal heat cloth to replace that bit that sits ontop of the floor.

Then finally ordered 45 Philidas turret nuts and 100 stainless washers.

Looks like im sleeping on the floor when i move into my house at the end of the month!!!
