Erm yeah... been out for a good drive today and when the car is sitting still it starts to warm upish but when moving theres just cold air coming through, the faster i go the colder it is. Something wrong with the box or have i not put it back together properly when i sealed it?

Did you flush out and clean out the heater box and have you bled the system post sealing?

Steve

How do you mean bleed the system? i did this about 2 month ago mate. I cleaned the box out and then sealed it but just connected the pipes back on and topped the water back up at the header tank.

Its weird how its cold when driving but when sitting still it gets warmish. Maybe i've done something to one of the flaps?

You should open the bleed nipples as there will be air in the system.

I have to say that the standard heater isn't bad if in good condition. We just did a track day in December with the roof off and no coat on! Heater fully serviced and sealed, original silver pipe in good shape, and a little bit of foam rubber door seal where the ducts in the dash top meet the car.

Mines always blown warm air ( but not hot) thru, but since buying the car the metal heater pipes been replaced , sock mod been added & the dash has been sealed up, just had ago at turning the bracket on top of the heater box to see if it makes it warmer, will report in if it does.

Would think you have too much cold air getting in to gaps etc when driving forcing the warm
air out, when stationary not as much air movment so you get some heat,
have you done any mods on the system ?

Has anyone ever thought of buying a 12v or cig lighter to mains plug converter, and then using a hair dryer? I bet that would kick the heaters ass, and using the time I don't actually have to try and fix the damn heater, if the converter worked its instant heat and an easy option :D

I've taken the box out and sealed it, i've tried sealing the dash a little, i've taken the sills off and put insulation round the pipes and insulation around the heater box whilst its in.

Its blowing sort of cold when im driving but warm when im standing still so im wondering if i've done something to the heater matrix? i dunno but its obviously shite compared to everyone elses

i feel sorry for you guys, im still using the T7 prototype and its more than capable of getting hot heat into the cabin, this is it

the fit is 90% ok, fan needs to be 5mm lower or rotated 90 degrees to fit in the recess and the enclosure is smaller than the original but packed with packing foam its fine.

i only have one speed hooked up, Fast, after 10 mins you have to switch it off for a min to cool down or if its not raining open the window a bit.

Havent a clue about heater matrix's but the big hole at the front of the box where the air comes in from the front of the car... could the flap be broken or something? Should the flap be closing the hole? i just dont know why it can be a tiny bit warm but as soon as i drive its cold

Yea I bought one, rated at 200w apaz and it was definately no good. Not joking, it's like a mouse sneezing on you. It was luke warm, if that so no improvement to my actually heater :P

Feel free to try one, but make sure you buy from a seller that will accept refunds if your not happy, that's what I did thumbsup
Was quite happy to get my £17 back.

Really that bad? Gotta be better than cold air though lol. Think the bloody soft top seals are fooked or something cause i can hear LOTS of wind noise and a little air from there somewhere so that wont help. Would a hair dryer work? lol, if so i'll be putting a few under the dash... no joke

Drive with your drivers side window down a third of the way and revel in all of the hot air that wafts in from the front rad vents. Make sure your air distribution plenum isn't broken. Mine was in two pieces where the hose from the heater box attaches to it, so was basically open to the elements and letting in more air from the front compartment than from the heater. Seen similar on two other VX's in the last month.

I duno, the problem with hair dryers is that most of them are like 2000 odd watts, and inverters only go up to about 500w, some a bit more. Would be good if you can find a hot hair dryer that is low powered thumbsup

But I'm in the exact same position as you lol not good :(

Btw is it me or do random images appear in posts. Like my last one there is a weird fooking box in my post?! :S hope it's my iPhone playing tricks -.-

Lol no must be your phone mate I've just been thinking... when i took my heater matrix out ages ago it sort of smashed but i sealed it all up properly and not long afterwards i've been loosing water from what i think is the radiator every now and then but i've just thought could it be coming from the heater box if its coming out of the cracks? If so would the water stay in the bottom where the heater box, battery etc sits or come out the front where the mesh is? As i can see where the leak is looking through the mesh at the front of the car

Ive actually just had a brainwave! (doesnt happen very often  ) Has anyone ever had any experience with those portable camping heaters? The ones that use propane canisters? I can imagine them getting fairly warm if they are designed to warm up a tent. Could be a good temporary solution...
