sh** can someone help me before i actually drive the car? I've changed the coolant then i turned the bleed nipple at the radiator to let air out but i turned it too bloody much and i dropped the screw... all pissed out and i cant find the screw but i've found a metal screw which fits perfect and the water doesnt seem to come out on idle so would that be ok or does it have to be plastic?
You don't really want to be using a screw as the tip will get progressively nigger where the very end will not be making contact with anything and only the last bit to enter the hole where it becomes tight will be securing it. Under pressure this may cause it to tear out stretching the threads. Valve screws tend to have the same thickness along the whole length so that a greater surface area is interlocking. You can buy replacements for pence so try not to make do with an improvised one.
It may be better if you cut the screw / bolt down after where it becomes its thickest and maybe wrap some PTFE tape around it before gently screwing it back in. You should not really feel it getting much tighter until it is all of the way in.
Although there are corrosion inhibiters in the coolant metal will attract limescale and react alot more than plastic so longer term it may prove hard to adjust and or remove.

Cheers mate i will buy another one. Would i get one from Vauxhall? What do i ask for and would the astra ones be the same?
I've just took the car out quickly to test the heater and its a lot better. Warms up within 3 minutes and then gets pretty warm... not hot though but then again i only drove about 10 minutes

Phoned the local parts place (NPA) and they said i would have to ring Vauxhall as they dont stock items like the bleed nipple screws. Rang Vauxhall and they said they do not do parts for the VX220 even though the part was coming up on the system, so he said he would have to try something and ring me back later... havent heard anything since this morning but its £4 for the plastic screw. I'll try another Vauxhall garage
Ring Autovaux......

Any news on the heater Fezzasus? My flap is stuck. On cold. Fail! And I have a number of track days over the winter with early morning starts and wouldn't mind some heat!
Take it out and move the flap with your hand. Its easy

If I am taking it out I am replacing it with something better. I cannot move the flap at all. Totally sized.
You wont be able to move the flap with the knob on the top, but you can when you get a hold of the flap its self
