Does anybody know if it's possible to fit a air conditioning system into our VX220 N/A? If so, can someone send me some pictures of it? Thanks in advance.

There is one user that I know of... He's got AC installed into his VX in Hong Kong. Not a cheap or easy task by any stretch.

No idea how you would fit this in, but may be a starting point:

otherwise, drive with the roof off? :)

When I had to drive through downtown baghdad (sorry I mean central London) in the VX in the mental heat we had last summer (2010) even having the roof off was not enough.

I do want to get my arse back in a VX again, but if I could somehow restrospectively fit a good heater and cooling system I would be happy to take the car apart to get this done

Thought this was one of the old jokes when I first read it, then realised it was a serious question. I agree about hood on/hood off, but fail to see why anyone who buys into Colin Chapmans ''less is more credo'' then starts to add extra weight, as I don't believe an air con system is anything but porky. Buy a shed ! Oh, and Happy Christmas to all the other VX owners, hope to see some of you at Goodwood next week. If weather is reasonable I'll be dressed as Santa !!

I can certainly understand the attraction of aircon when the OP lives in Italy. Few things, other than freezing driving rain, are more miserable when in a VX than being stuck in a traffic jam in baking hot sun.

Driving in hot sunshine (whenever that is / was) with the roof off, certainly does not make it cooler IMO.

Take the aircon pump from a Vecra/Signum/Astra with the Z22SE. Get an aircon unit for the S2/Exige along with control. Have pipework made up to suit (easy) DONE.

I agree that 'less is more', but the reality is that the VX is still a heavy(ish) car in standard form. Been eyeing up Kitcar magazines of late (my eyes are wandering all over the place at the moment) and been looking at some of the kits on there. Got Monday off work and if the snow keeps away might have a visit to the 'local' Kitcar specialist and have a look and a play. Could be a dangerous move, but I haven't yet got over 4094 so need a target so I can build a plan.

I thought that I would really miss air con. Mainly because I like to be able to demist the windows also because when I turn up for work without my hair looking deranged - after a roof off moment. I have to say thought that after nearly 4 years there are so more positives to owning this car that the lack of air con is acceptable. Not sure if this is true but I believe the UK has the highest percentage of drop tops in the Eu, the reason being that our summers are not so hot as to make the soft top a liability. Best regards, Paul

Don't why it is... Could be that reason, though I know it certainly wasn't the reason I got my rag-top.

Im not sure if im doing this air con demist thing wrong or not but, had it on earlier to demist as it was about 3 degrees. Cleared the screen really quick but there was me getting chuffing cold. So put the heaters back on and it misted up again straight away so had to go back to aircon. Hard choice between being blind and warm or being able to see and cold!
