Needed to come out to get the box rebuilt which is all done now (£624 plus VAT later).

Ouch. Has it got different custom gears/final drive now to justify that cost? :o :(

Nope, but it did need new 3/4/5 gears plus selector fork, plus syncro plus bearings..

Holy shoite! You did that properly. Did you manage to track down one of the mythical all metal selector forks, or have to go with the original plastic ended one?

Couldn't you get a low mileage box from a scrappy for a couple of hundred?

In my experience rebuit boxes tend to fail much more often than low mileage 'un-cracked' boxes. An LSD swap would be £50 - £100 tops if the box was already out.

I have to admit I've heard of a few rebuild F23 gearboxes (on VXTs admitedly) that didn't work all too well after, though hopefully yours will be fine Mike. I think a lot of it must be down to the experience of whoever does the work.

Massive improvement from lying on my back in two foot of snow when it is minus 12 outside the garage.

Mike, how do the EP four pot calipers compare to the AP offerings? It's a good £100 more, has EP offered a reason behind this?
