I would be concerned that by going even lower the gt uprights don't make the rear driveshaft angles any better.

Thats a good point, maybe the next mod part on the scene will be offset (ie lowered) front+rear engine mounts and shorter side turret mounts so the whole engine can be lowered a few CM.

Good for CoG, but that is making the angles even worse!

Ideally you should rotate the engine forward so the gearbox shaftcenter goes upward.

true, but think about it for a minute, what defines the shaft angles?

also, consider the effect of rear camber on the joints too...

Simon, it was just a throwaway comment, I don't have a technical drawing of your parts so don't take it as a criticism.

not taking it as such, just trying to get you to think it though..

irrespective of the upright, shaft angle is related to wheel height vs. gearbox height vs. ride hight

Mike I've been really impressed with your progress this year. With the well publicised updates to your car there must have been some real pressure to deliver and some would have choked but you've obviously taken it in your stride, well done mate and keep up the great work.

irrespective of the upright, shaft angle is related to wheel height vs. gearbox height vs. ride hight

With a very low car to get/keep straight axles I suppose you'd either need to run small (eg. 10-13") wheels with low-profile tyres (gearing may get a bit bizarre and brakes that fit under them get tiny ;) ) or get a gearbox/transaxle with a diff mounted with a  (much) higher center-line I guess...

Unless you'd start raising the engine itself in the chassis, but that's not nice for the COG.. If space is available then tilting the engine, and effectively raising the bottom end+gearbox could be somewhat of a compromise. But that probably plays havoc with the oiling (drain path from head and sump pickup) making it rather un-attractive....

Bye, Arno.

It's crap Mike. It's not your fault. The design of the update is flawed.

Press the little switch button at top left of box when typing. It will give you the plain text look and sort out the quotes.
