Must have been a 'point of no retune' moment taking the dremel to the rear clam. Joes has worked his magic though and looks like a great job.

So will your freshly rebuilt motor be pushing out any more horses?

Aiming for a 40BHP increase top end.

Looks good. You should go back and read from post 1. See just how much you've done as its an epic amount of work.

I guess.

Currently sitting in the waiting room at Track Club in Kimbolton having the geo done. Really good set up and loads of Elises around which immediately built confidence. Simon knows what he is talking about and when we discussed settings he came up with the same figures as me which was encouraging.

Car sat on ramp now and I guess I have nowt to do for a good few hours.

Anybody need anything small picking up from Elise Parts?

Not gone to TDI?

Why the change?

Time scales and availability.

If I went to TDi I would end up doing the work and right now I am enjoying being the customer for a change.

Plus Track Club are closer and I can go cross country which is important in an untested rebulit car that I need to build confidence in.

Can't get the ride heights as low as we would like due to clearance issues on the mahoosive wheels. 5mm higher that hoped all round. Poo.

No reason not to :) Im very interested in seeing how we get on, how it feels etc. I was toying with the idea of running cambers like that for track and pop shims in for road. I was worried about tyre wear running such an agressive set, when i had -2.0 degree it killed my fronts down to the canvas of the tyre and the outside of the tyre still looking new. Ideally we need to work out what settings give the highest % of tyre contact patch on the track. Which we can do by monitoring wear and tyre temps in the pits and change the car to settings to suit using shims.. But the question we really need to ask is.. Is it worth it going to the hastle. I wouldnt want to do that on the day, only testdays.

How's the clam rigidity with all the cut outs? Does it still feel strong?

I must admit I did wonder about that seeing Joe's car (what's left of it!). It looks as though the mesh is applied flat inside the clam and I wondered if it would give more rigidity if the mesh was recessed into the holes from the back like, I think, Geoff Love's mods (if that makes sense). I think you need something like an edge-setter or joggler tool to achieve this.

When all is said and done, the rear clam only has to be rigid enough to hole the rear lights on. Actually it is OK. So we got -2 neg camber front -3 neg camber rear 4 degrees castor front -.5mm toe front 1.3mm toe rear Much better now all the wheels are the same and pointing in the right directions. Reckon Simon at Track Club, a calm professional gentle fellow. Will use again.

What's the rear vision like mike?

Shite to non-existant, I am contemplating a rear window in that hatch thing.

I guess the "slots" are inline with the seats rather than the mirror?
Perspex screen in between the slots on the flat piece?

I've not seen the inside of the fastback, but another bank of slats would make more sense to me.

Wouldn't a perspex plate get very shitty, very quickly? esp with it being at circa 30deg?

Just thinking out loud after a long old day
