LoafingWafu, I've had a look at the Championship regs but there's no mention of which parts of section S will apply. Will all cars be considered "Road-Going Series Production" as per S11.1.1 and thereby comply with the relevant parts of section K?

I may be able to do the Combe round, would be an interesting shakedown. Interested to see no base line for your handicap system, surely somebody should start with Zero handicap?

Rally, Cliffie,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

I think you've read an older version of the regs.... I'll get the link changed (just realised I can't edit a post that far back).

Finalised regs here: http://dl.dropbox.co...Form%202012.pdf

With regards the handicap; results from sprints were fed into excel, a graph was plotted and a logarithmic trendline used to derive the equation. I'm sure it does get to zero somewhere but I haven't worked it out I'm afraid.

The combe event in March is a great event as it's a round of the HSA Speed Champs, so a lot of single seaters pitch up. SRs and entry form is out for that event now. http://forums.seloc....nt.php?eid=3106

Sorry Keith, my question still stands. The final championship regs that you linked to still doesn't specify which part of section S the car would be running under. I'm not being pedantic, if invited VXs are running under S11.1.1 I can turn up with my road car with road belts, seats... in fact, the only mod I would need to do is install a catch tank. If not then the extra safety requirements puts it out of the question for me. Cliffie will be ok because he's building his car for competition anyway. Sorry for bugging you :)

Hi Rally,

Sorry didn't fully understand what you were asking earlier.

For any of the road going classes in the blue book you shouldn't need any modifications to you car (not sure why you need a catch tank, can you point me to the regulation you're concerned with). In some sprints they are happy for you to run in road going series production (S 11.1.1) in others they group all elise variant/westfield/caterhams into the same category so affectively road going specialist production (S 11.1.2). Each individual event specifies what they want to do in the suplimenatry regs as and when they are released (normally 4-6 week before the event).

Either way though all you should need for the vehicle to compete is as follows:
  • Numbers on either side that contrast with the background
  • Timing strut
  • Sticker showing the direction to turn the ignition off
  • Yellow tape on the negative terminal/lead of the battery.
Have a look through this to give you a steer on what hoops you need to jump through to compete: http://forums.seloc.....php?tid=230602

Hope this answers you're question.

Keith.

Sure, it's:
S10.3.5. Engine Oil Systems – Unless equipped with a closed loop system, a Catch tank of at least a one litre capacity to be incorporated in the oil breather system.
My car has the cam cover breather going to a filter so would need a catch tank.

Either way though all you should need for the vehicle to compete is as follows:

  • Numbers on either side that contrast with the background
  • Timing strut
  • Sticker showing the direction to turn the ignition off
  • Yellow tape on the negative terminal/lead of the battery.

Understood. I'm pretty sure I can make a timing strut to bolt into the towing eye bolt hole.

Have a look through this to give you a steer on what hoops you need to jump through to compete: http://forums.seloc.....php?tid=230602

Better register then!

Cheers.

Ah... new rule for this year, thank you for pointing this out! I doubt the scrutineers will check to be honest but better to be safe than sorry. Look forward to seeing you at North Weald. I should hopefully have a set of corner weighting scales to bring along so we can all do a weigh in :) Keith.

I meant register for the Seloc forum as I can't see the links you've put up - I'm not quite ready to put any entries in just yet! My overalls and hat are out of date so would have to find the dosh to replace them.

Only that the MSA periodically changes the spec. My last set are EN531. Current Blue Book requires FIA 8856-2000.
