Well, too much time to think over Xmas and with the home rebuild having to be abandoned due to a thermal incident, I've been relooking at the aftermarket options to see if the game has moved on much. I was always going to be uprating this year, after two years just enjoying a really good all round quick enough to catch most setup. 2012 plans were in place to go with a K06 turbo, aka Bo Nielsens' TA specification. So it looks like I will go back to a name I trust and have a chat with Jon Shields at Courtenay Sport.

A few pics of install packaging, this is the new product , a cast exhaust manifold with a V band flange, rather than the typical T3 square hole, 4 bolt arrangement. It has an external wastegate.

But anyway, see loads of space there...

Good luck with the project when you get it started steve. thumbsup That is a ridiculous amount of power to be playing with though and I'm sure will cause all kinds of "challenges". I'll keep an eye on this one. chinky chinky

Good luck Steve, I was wondering if a tubby was going to make an appearence this year. What box are you looking at running with the build?

Yes, you have hit the nail on the head there, high torque and high rpm means a lot of kW waste heat produced, I can either reject that into the radiator circuit ( using a spare VX OEM plastic oil cooler ), or have a mocal with ducted air to it. Or I was wondering if I can passively cool the casing.

I'm not going to be giving my new box anything like the hammering you will but I'm still going to be fitting an oil rad to it.

IIRC Chris Randall runs an essetially standard m32 with just an oil rad and it's been problem free. Just found this on their web site http://www.hofmannso...rbox-oil-cooler

The Klassen V-band exhaust manifold is a nice bit of kit http://www.hofmannso...g-turbo-upgrade Compared to my very ornate tubular manifold it makes a little less power for the same boost but its SO much easier to install and more robust. Just don't underestimate the amount of heat that will get generated on track at those power levels, so shield everything very carefully and use the best materials. Interestingly, the car in the blog entry above has one of our old pro-alloy chargecoolers with the normal big bosch pump, 5 pass core etc etc and is seriously limited by inductions temps. The new CC system we have done is on a whole different planet, beats any other cc or intercooler I have seen by a country mile and means you don't run into the knock limit all the time on the track. I wouldn't do another big turbo setup without one, it would be money down the drain.

Do you mean the cc system that you have to cut a large chunk of crash box away?

Yes/No, you cut part of the bottom panel away, not part of the pillars designed for the impact absorption. The panel is then replaced with an aluminium shroud which ties it all back in again. Really the only way to get a decent sized pre-rad in there without compromising the other radiators.

Are you running one of the laminova manifolds? I haven't had much experience with those for chargecooling, only for oil cooling. Would be interested to see some data. My CC is still made by PA, just to a different spec. Wouldn't use anyone else for ally fabricating work.

Na Alex is a good guy. Yup currently still using the laminvoers which is now the limitation of my cc setup. But myself and nickb777 are the only ones to have proper intake temperature sensors as we are running the z20let ecu. So in feb I can give proper data as that's my first trackday next year unless I book one for next month! So will be very interesting :)
