A long weekend that was, took Friday afternoon off with no notice (thanks Boss) and fitted Fred's carpet set. A few niggles, but all came good in the end.

So after around two years of tinkering I think the interior is about done, some new mats from DtT on order and that'll be it for a little while..

An hour or so with some P800...

A few areas which will need a bit more paint/TLC....I'm half considering extending the paint to the whole of the clam top if the join between old/new is visible

What a difference a few weeks make to one's confidence :D

My god, that result from a spraycan :o

That is so inspirational for me tackling my bottom sill hole accident this winter.

What does it look like without a gallon of water on top of it?

 You seem to think I may know what I'm doing here!?!? The paint post sanding looks very very flat and even (apart from one or two places where the paint spat) I'm hoping if the lacquer is even and polished it'll look like the boot ;) No lacquer on there yet

Yeah, I guessed you'd not braved lacquer yet. Hopefully that'll look as good as it does with the water.

Where are you doing this, surely not in the street? :o

Outside under a tree glol as you well know ;) Lacquer will be going on in a nice garage though Time will tell as to how good it turns out. TBH anything would have been better than before; and I'm having fun though :)

TBH, I'm about >< close to giving up on it Not a great day today, I think I'll keep at it until it's finished...even if it doesn't look any good. Need better quality rattle cans/skill tbh...and at £13 a pop im questioning the DIY ethic even with the vx small panel size

Just talking about that now Chris. Looking at the times the circuit opens/shuts in terms of spectators I'm sort of doubting it (despite swearing I'd do this year) we are taking my parents out in the evening and a leave at after 5:00pm makes time a tad pushed to say the least :( In the back of my mind pushing myself to get it finished before Saturday hasn't been great either :( so if we do go I'm guessing it'll be in the AC pug loveliness

Traffic down there could well be a bitch considering school summer holidays start, the lovely weather and the fact you have to go past the gower. I guess if you did heads of the valleys road it would potentially be a bit quieter?

Car is broke Chris :(   that and a two hour drive there and back isn't going to happen I'm afraid :(

Seems the issue with the car may well be the fact I've been chucking tons of water at it; that and the three relays are sitting on the boot carpet

Anyways,

Bit the bullet after yesterdays bad day....bought some more paint in cans which turned out to be 110% better than the last two. I decided to paint all of the top of the clam and the rear down to the number plate. Some copious P2000 later and it's ready for clear coat(s)

Some pics just for grumpyMatt of the pre-lacquer prep

Patience (lack of) got the better of me so broke out the lacquer on a test patch :D

Lets just say it's deep baby ;) somewhat nervous of laying down the clear now :)
