I'm yet to see a cracked subframe. They definitely flex big time, which is why I came up with the carbon sheer panel which I use on my car, but I've just never seen one fatigue to the point of cracking. The S1 Elise are far worse for this and I've only ever seen those crack after accidents.

I've noticed a very slight amount of rear-end steer under power - turns slightly right under power, left on overrun. Only noticeable on a straight road/track. Thought it was a slight amount of play in the mostly new rear bushes (none noticeable on ramp though) but does subframe contribute?

When was the car last geo'd? What shocks you on? What bushes did you fit?

Pop your shocks off and check they are set the same (if adjustable), then operated the wishbones through their full sweep (wheels and shocks still off). They should move freely and drop under their own weight thumbsup

Yes all fair points - so I guess yours doesn't do this! After a few errors by others, I keep geo checked myself with the old reliable bars&string method. Running Guglielmi camber/toe, equal both sides, on Nitron single adj.

One rear is hard to adjust so maybe needs servicing, was thinking of upgrading to 2 or 3-ways soon anyway. I'll see what offers are on at Autosport!

I know of two of them on the french board
I'll try to find some pics...

The VXT/late NA's and most likely Europa one is reinforced and about 2 Kg heavier, so most likely stronger than the earlier ones

There are various brace bars kicking around

Mine doesn't do much fella, two of the wishbones are still in the shed  I would suggest you have a sticky wishbone for whatever reason :)

Thanks, I'm looking for 220/640R17's so I would have thought they should (unless they're 190's) must be X12's though as X22's not allowed in MLRSS

Just checked... mine are 210/620R17 (No idea on compound where can I check?).
They were used by Team Jota in the Britcar on the MX-5, until it pissed down, so they look like they have plenty of meat left on them (wear markers still visible).

Much appreciate the courtesy of reply but I'm really looking for 220's (210's appear discontinued) and those look as though they may be X22's by the lack of tread cut

After my Toe link debacle I discovered a crack in my subframe. Nothing my welder could not solve (yes, the frame will be replaced as it will probably crack now near the weld), but looking throught the forum my frame was cracked exactly like this one! (Only on the opposite VX-passenger side)

What's the verdict on "stronger" later versions? From what your/number?

Any ideas for strenghthening a std frame? Thinking of maybe modding a VX frame with a cross bar similar to the S2 version. I need a custom exhaust anyway, so...

Might have a poke around mine.... Anyway, did anyone ever run slicks in the end? Just been reading this and I though that slicks weren't allowed on Track Days?

As Jimmy said, worth checking bushes, I had this and the all the poly bushes needed pulling out, cleaning up and refitting.
You could change lanes by taking your hands off the wheel and accelerating and backing off.

God, just seen these pics - makes me want to nervously inspect my car immediately. About time I got a brace bar specially made to link the 2 inverted turrets, as my exhaust pipe is in the way to fit an off the shelf part :(
