Was out the the Z4 forum guys on there peaks run last Wednesday, had a great day but even in M coupe form the vx just murders the Z4 in every aspect (except the heater!)

the last vx220 i had was a standard turbo, and there is no way on the right road a turbo would out sprint it the z4m roadster.

My VX is not a 'standard' Turbo and like I said 'it just murders the Z4 in every aspect' on any road not just the 'right' one...

;)

Remapped tubby would probably be quicker than the M Roadster/Coupe but after 60 ish I think the M would catch up and pull away.

In the corners the tubby would be faster, so it's only on long straights that the M would have it.

Only thing I would say is that with 265 tyres it's alot easier to put down 300bhp+ of power.

Yes a turbo is faster in the corners but on straights the z4m would murder as the turbo doesn't have the mid range pull of an m

Top gear track times

BMW z4m standard 1.26 sec

Vx220 turbo standard 1.31.30

The m is faster on tracks to by a whole 5 sec

You would need some long striaghts mate. I appreciate you have the times there but having owned both the cornering ability of a VX is a different ballpark. None of this was the reason I sold though. £ per smiles the VX wins hand down.

And my friend has a stage 3 z4m which would murder a stage 4 turbo on any road, plus having come from a stage 4 turbo the power delivery is a nightmare to put on the road :-)

;)

This 'stage 3' Z4M your 'friends' got, what are the modifications done to it?

Only ask as a very close friend of mine is a moderator on the Z4 forum and is generally considered to be the 'Vocky' of the Z4 scene in the UK and when I txt him earlier asking what a 'Stage 3' was he'd never heard of one...

Sounds like I will have to get Nipper out against your mates tuned Z4 and let him bring his Bugatti Veryon along too if wants ;) I think the arguement would be settled once and for all then. Vaxuhall is boss - te he he.

the best and only way to settle any car race is a factory stock race all this tuning stage 4 or even 5 is useless if you cant put the power down.

besides that the z4m roadster is faster than a vx220 turbo fact and we all know it, regardless of whos been playing with the engines

i still love vx220 and a great fun car but thats all they will ever be

the bmw z4m is still fun but has more of the grown up factor better made and a heater that works.

The z4 is dull compared to the Vx though. Both in driver enjoyment, looks from people and sheer sense of occasion. As a daily id hav the Z4 but as a weekender the VX wins IMO. Is your mates 'stage 3' the Csl one that he recently showed at the autosport show?

yh thats right bud, the vx220 does have the looks and thrills but when i see one in the rain or freezing snow ice i cant help but think i could never do that again hence why i now have a z4m it really is a machine, i understand the vx220 attracts attenion from the kids but its real men that love the z4m and the straight award wining m3 engine sound is enough to turn heads .

lol

Found your mates car over on Z4-forum.com looks like a nice car :) The 'Z' guys don't use the 'stage' tuning term hence 'stage 3' being unknown, they just add SC's, cams, exhausts ect and list their mods rather than 'stage 11' :D Your mate posted that his 0-60 was timed at 4.5 seconds and that ' To get low 4s was very difficult to get the power down,' anyway I not getting into a cock waving competition so I'll leave my contribution to this thread at that.
