it took me 3 weeks to sort out my insurance for the national as she never rang me back despite the messages and email I sent her. I had to go through Neil to make sure it got sorted.

Just what I need half an hour before setting off - discovered a fuel leak.

The union between one of the hard lines on the drivers side of the head and the soft line it joins. Doesn't actually look like it's the quick fit connector itself but more like the actual joint between the rubber hose and the fitting. If a new jubilee doesn't sort it, I don't think we'll be going. ETA: Looks like I will be doing the bling fuel line conversion after all.

Give James a call? Could he make up a fuel line for you? Or does Joe have a fuel line you could swap it for?

Fixed. I hope. Rubber hose onto the low pressure quick connect connector had perished where it was clamped. Wheel off, arch liner out, pulled the hose off the fitting and cut an inch off then reattached with a better hose clamp. Fingers crossed that'll sort it ahead of a permanent solution with the new engine. Kind of glad I didn't ignore it though. Tested the exhaust was all connected by running the car in the garage and just ignored the smell of fuel as it always smells a bit rich. Closed up the garage for 45 minutes and then went back in and it still stunk so had a closer look in the engine bay and noticed the wet hose.
