In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time someting like that happened in politics or religion.

Just a question in this weird world, would Scotland be rated a third world country if it wins independence?

Well at a push I could get used to Irish Whiskey or even Bourbon or Brandy

You should give some of the English Whisky a try... for a young un it's actually really good   For a good peating you need chapter 11 release   www.englishwhisky.co.uk
Well the Christmas Malts are getting low maybe time for a change. Never had an English whisky. I may just give it a try.

There isn't. The term 3rd world country isn't meant as a ranking system.

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Third_World

Since Scotland would likely enter / try to enter NATO, it couldn't be called that, except by English people who don't know what they are talking about (i.e a good chunk of this thread ;))

The Leaping Salmond will no doubt have factored in the income gained from being a Third World country into their budget. He isn't too proud to take money from other sources, much the same as he isn't too proud to keep taking money from the group of countries he is so keen to be separated from.

Go on then...make that make sense?

Scotland has 8.3% population and contributes 9.2% of GDP.

Tell me who is taking who's money again?

Do you think if we were such a burden and a weight around the neck of the UK they people looking at the balance sheets would be falling over themselves to get us to stay?

So with all that in mind, we will be worse off if Scotland is devolved from the Union? I tend not to agree. Does that also mean that Scotland would be a wealthy country when unshackled from the freeloaders south of the Wall? I tend not to agree with that either.

It won't happen so we will never be able to see the true impact of the devolution.

It doesn't really matter what you believe. See above. Also we're already devolved. You mean independence.
