I always reject any change in Scottish notesWhy don't we just have Scottish Pounds like we currently do? It's like a foreign currency when you go down south anyway and I've even seen a Bereu abroad offering a different rate (worse) to english pounds to change it into euros.

I'm still not clear. Is a Scottish note legal tender in England (for now) ?
I've had a couple of places reject it. But just assumed they were a bit clueless.
Might start happening a bit mote often as we approach referendum vote

Of course it is, and would be in the event of independence, although they would presumably be phased out. It's the same Sterling, it's just printed by a Scottish bank...I'm still not clear. I think it's ignorance from certain shops/stores why they accept/refuse the Scottish note? I don't know what the fuss is, if you bugg3r off you'll end up using the Euro?

So he's being told he definitely won't be allowed to join the EU, and he definitely won't be allowed to keep the pound as a currency union. And he totally refuses to believe either...
He's sounding more and more desperate as the days go by. I'm not sure it's even worth asking Scots to vote anymore.

The only legal tender in the UK is bank of England notes all others are a promise to pay and can be exchanged in any bank or post office for a bank of England note. Retailers are within their rights to refuse any notes even Bank of England ones. So it is not even legal tender in Scotland.

I really don't get it. All parties say they won't be able to use the pound sterling. This guy comes back and claims it's a "scare tactic". You know what, it doesn't even matter whether it is or not. Why would we want to share a currency with a country whose rules and regulations are entirely out of our control? You can't pick and choose what you do and don't want to keep. "Oh we want to run our own sh*t but we also want to keep some of your stuff too, because it's kind of stable and all that". If it all goes completely tits up for the Scots after they vote yes, let's say, it will drag the pound down with them, which is utterly bollocks news for the majority of us. So I come back to my original question - why should we share the pound with Scotland if they vote for independence? Give me compelling reasons that outweigh the current ones for this notion and I will think on it. But as it stands, it will be horrendous if we share with an independent Scotland.Summary of Alex Salmonds speech: Blah blah blah So, no change there then.

Funny how in the good old days, when an independent Scotland was going to be admitted straight into the EU and would be embracing the Euro as their de-facto currency (you know, before you were found out to be basing that on worthless "legal advice" you claim to have been given), there was no great concern about cross border transaction costs penalising rUK and Scottish businesses in the other direction.
Now in the more caring sharing "look at me, I'm Mr Reasonable", we will have a Sterling currency union (no matter you might say) SNP view, he's waving the threat of hundreds of millions of pounds of extra transaction costs as a threat over us (as if all of that cost will fall south of the border anyway). Hmmm, were they not going to apply back then, then? Or had you negotiated some kind of magical cost free €-£ currency exchange system whilst you were day dreaming on the bog? Why the sudden concern?
And he reckons we're the only bullies on the block?
Whatever you say Alex, in the event of a "Yes" vote, you do what you want and even refuse to service your share of the national debt if that suits your army of fanatics. We'll just offset that against the shared pot of current and future pension liabilities that remains in rUK post-independence if that helps?

And at the end, there's going to be a massive bill, which could have gone towards something important, there's going to be some really pissed off; ok disillusioned voters thinking; well that was a fcukin waste of time? All for what? Ok Mr Salmond we'll increase the revenue for Scotland, so you can still decide what to spend it on & give your Uni students foc degrees & cheaper than the English but not as cheap as the Welsh for prescriptions. And then there will be some mavericks thinking; I know, if we can't get independence by politics, let's turn the clocks back & let's try to do what our kin over the water tried? I don't get it myself, we're supposed to be more advanced in the 21st century, we've seen what a balls up, breaking USSR is turning out in some regions & Yugoslavia, Who? Why can't the Scottish politicians just get their ar5es down to Westminster & do their ranting in there & stop wasting time & money? How much for a parliament building?????????? And there's enough Scottish politicians in the current UK parliament, serving shadow & government, oh & guess what, wasn't the previous Prime Minister Scottish & wasn't there plenty of powerful politicians through 80s when Tories were in. And not one of them helped (free) Scotland from the tyrannical English! I'm afraid I can't see Mr Salmond as anything other than a Hoffa, a union leader who doesn't give a hoot about anybody else but himself, he appears egotistical.

let them use the Pound i say...then the BoE can devalue it and the Scots will be even more worthless than they were than before all this started and have a bigger budget deficit that they cannot afford, then they can borrow of the English and we keep them under control anyway....

Apologies if this one has been asked already asked but it could really change my thinking on this...
If Scotland goes Independent... Would they do a proper job, so that if I accidentally exceed the speed limit while on a Hoon say, I wouldn't get any points ?
I know we would get fleeced money wise, but we're used to that... (shouldn't hurt too much with the exchange rate anyway).
