Except that's two Olympics in a row, now. ;)

Personally, I can't stand any of it and have even less interest than the summer games and struggle even further to call most of the events, sports.

Out of interest, would this whole indie thing have come up if 'not the Conservatives' were in No10 ?

It was a topic, but unfortunately like a neglectful parent Cameron forgot to shut that door during the last electoral campaign. We therefore let a screaming Salmond and Sturgeon make a bolt for the open door. Only time will tell whether that bus heading down the road is likely to hurt them or kill them, my money is the kid on the pushbike coming the other way.

They may be lucky and not be struck by that obvious bus, or the pushbike ... And I hope they don't (both the shite metaphor and real life).

I still find it abhorrent that Scotland are allowed to air their opinion on the debate (by vote) whereas the rest of the UK populus are not.

Do you feel France, Spain, Bulgaria and Germany should get a say in the 2017 proposed referendum on UK remaining in the EU? On Slindy's note, sort of. The referendum is only taking place because the SNP were able to get a majority in the Scottish Parliament. Labour being the opposition in Scotland collapsed as they did in much else of the UK so the SNP got their majority in the last Scottish Election. It's not really because the tories are in power is more that Labour completely collapsed.

If the SNP got a majority in the Scottish Parliament and Labour were in power in London. We'd still be here. The Tories are a lot easier to make villians out of though, especially with the austerity measures.

As a matter of fact I do.

Results could / should be weighted 60% to those who it most directly affects, but ultimately like this debate - we all agreed to jump into bed together / get wed, so it is wrong that only one side gets to formalise their opinion on getting out of bed / marital responsibility.

To be honest - I don't think the UK should remove itself from Europe, as much as it pains me to say it - there are occasions where I think relationship, as it stands works quite well. Yes there are moments where it gets a bit to 'bullshitty' and 'nancy'. We (UK or rUK) need to just do what the rest of Europe do with any European legislation - pretend it doesn't exist when it suits us.

The European Court hasn't harmed the French, Spanish or Germans yet - I mean what are they likely to do??? Put military / economic sanctions on us!!!

Given a majority the SNP were always going to put through a referendum bill. They even tried to in the last parliament when they won the election in 2007 but couldn't get a majority support for it.

I agree with most of that. To be fair also if the vote was put to the rest of the UK about independence it'd probably help the yes vote more than No. Although you may get a more informed debate that way.

I think it is the only chance that Scotland has for passing the independence act. Right now I want to buy a cod and haddock and mercilessly beat Salmond and Sturgeon to death with them.

If I hear the words "bully" "bullied" from either of those two then they will join Ed Ballsack and Gollum (Michael Gove) on my hunting list.

I think it'd make the answer more definite, either way.

It'll be close from your lot alone, whereas it would probably be a 70-80% majority in either direction if we were all included.

Anyone see the "debate" last night with Nicola Sturgeon and Johann Lamont?

Utter car crash TV. The host lost all contorl and it was just an inaudible shouting match.

But Johann Lamont did say "Scots aren't genetically programmed to make political decisions"

Round of applause for Mrs Johann Lamont...the Leader of Scottish Labour and head of the opposition in the Scottish Parliament.

I tried to watch it also, and as you say, handbags were oot! Garbled mess... Johann Lamont did give a better show of it than others in previous debates though.

Just watched it... Again Sturgeon refers to the bullies in Westminster.

Lamont did do well, but alas the smiling assassin made Lamont look uncomfortable.

Can't believe that the presenter didn't have her own opinion.

You should watch the other ones Chris. That one was pretty horrific to try and listen to. I ended up just turning it off.
