I see your points Scott, but the majority of the anti-how-it-currently-is sentiments would/could be shared by anyone that lives outside of the home-counties, so Scotlandshire is not alone in feeling those things.
And in the home counties too. In fact, many of us get a much worse deal than Scotland.
Up in the North West, we're largely ignored by London the same as the folks in Scotland are. The difference is, we don't have our own government with powers over westminster to improve things. We're stuck with local MPs who bow to London.
Scotland currently have the best of both worlds. Power to govern (to an extent). with the backing and stability of the UK infrastructure. We should be so lucky

To me yesterday was a great example of bad behaviour on both sides of the fence, but most worrying was the reaction from Salmond.
In essence Standard Life said "we're making provision in case there is a yes vote and the climate doesn't advantage us" and made specific mention of the currency union. No-one can deny that, when you read what they ACTUALLY said then it makes total sense. However the way it was interpreted was dangerous.
The together campaign took that to mean "we'll leave if there is independence" which isn't necessarily true.
The yes campaign went one better though and said "everyone agrees we need a monetary union and its the best for everyone".....which isn't true either.
Regardless of what the yes campaign think is sensible or the right thing to do, if the dominant side of the relationship (westminster) says we can't have a currency union then it won't happen. Right now they are saying it won't happen and as such IF we got independence AND we didn't get a currency union then Standard Life MIGHT vote with their feet.
One thing is for sure though, Westminster won't lose any sleep about Standard Life moving from Edinburgh to London post "yes" vote........and why would they? For the good of the union that no longer exists?
For me this is where the Yes campaign are being naive and they need to start giving concrete plans for what will happen - the institutions (such as my employer) won't stand for instability.

Is it possible for the Pro Independence guys to ditch Salmond ? I think he just irritates and winds up the rest of the UK and so isn't doing Scotland any favors post vote whichever way it goes.

I will tell you, Scotland have their budget, independence won't happen because there was never any intention. Budget will Increase, Scotland will stay in union & EU! & you can say Ffs & whatever formation letters you want!

You don't half ramble some shite. No idea what you're trying to say here. The budget is due to drop. The SNP have had since their inception the idea of independence. A majority in a Scottish Parliament has allowed them to get a referendum through. You think they don't want it? No idea what the formation of letters bit is about.I will tell you, Scotland have their budget, independence won't happen because there was never any intention. The way I read that I think you both need to re-read it. Basically it is suggesting that Scotland get and extra £7bn per year more than they contribute.Zuber, on 27 Feb 2014 - 7:23 PM, said:

Or are the figures wrong ? Always wondered how Scotland can afford free university fees which has cost me a frigging fortune three times, the bastards
