Sorry Scott, but the last labour government spent way less than the SNP is now promising to spend, and that didn't go well. It was completely unsustainable. No way would an independent Scotland have better access to credit than the UK - and you'll need credit to spend like that because there's no way you'll raise it in tax.
I need to watch this, obviously an indi Scotland would'nt be looked upon any more favourably even though they have no track record? And without any evidence, why would a untried country get a good deal? Surely no figures, you'll have to re-priorities where you spend? If it should happen, there is no way you'll keep things the way it is? You'll be locked in court for years trying to prove why something belongs to Scotland? IMHO you need to stay in the UK & the effort put in to spreading the UK wealth, total? And you've come to that conclusion how?

These are the 10 year bond yields for european countries. They're almost completely dependent on risk. Currency is a risk, as is the countries ability to finance the debt.
The UK is currently paying more because of the currency risk. If we were in the Euro we'd probably be at about the same level as France, which has a similar debt to GDP ratio. Basically, investors expect the Euro to gain against the pound.
If you were taking your money out of your pocket to lend to one of these countries how would you rank them with respect to Scotland, given Scotland has an uncertain currency future, a government promising to borrow more money, and really very uncertain expenditures and revenues?

Actually, it's not quite as bad as I thought it might be. Moody's think you'll go down a couple of grades initially and long term will depend on how well you manage your economy - obviously.

So looks like the BBC are going out on strike on the opening day of the Commonwealth Games which will have a large impact on live TV broadcasts. Another plot by the Westminster/Tory hegemony?

Though having just seen the Scottish team uniforms, it may actually have been done for humanitarian reasons.

ITV are showing a Tea Towel documentary around the same time though.

Sounds like you're typical nationalist - spend money on flags, but don't worry about the cost of the structure...That woodwork is in some state!
