They've made a mistake of validating it with a response. You do know a petition to the uk government requires 100,000 signatures to even be discussed in parliament?
Sounds to me like that 'debate' hasn't moved on; more like conveniently swept under he carpet

And that is the last response I will give on it.
Don't be like that
I'm curious; why are you dead set against the Shetlands seeking independence then? or is it too obvious?
A quick wiki would suggest 70% of the populous are in oil related jobs; makes you wonder which way they might vote on an independent isle if they were given the opportunity to vote as opposed to a weak petition no?

Not really the point is it? you seem very defensive here...
The direct point in question (with regard to the referendum) is that the Shetland seem to be an annexe of Scotland with no rights of their own (should they want it)
Given Scotland's revenue would be materially effected if they decided they wanted to be independent; can you not see the relevance of the issue?

Can we give Luton to Scotland?

Aberdeen is an affluent place and has a lot of oil workers. Maybe Ross will raise a petition on his lunch break tomorrow for independent state of Aberdeen. I'll even sign it for a laugh.
Busy day today man, maybe another time..
Interestingly, I wouldn't recommend Aberdeen went independant - its short-term gain would be offset by the pain during long-term decline by its major industry. We've seen it before.
Plus, it would make places such as Dundee much more attractive and viable to invest and locate to..
See where I'm going with this..
