The problem is the finned diffusers being shred to pieces with big track suv's pulling you out.
So air flow can be sacrificed over function.

Should now be something like this though:

I'm not an engineer but did physics and Maths in uni, that shape could buckle and bend, a better shape is the triangle so the force tries to stretch the metal when used meaning itll take the strain better. It wouldn't need to be very fancy and could even be a sheet with a hole cut in it (ie like a double diffuser). You could even incorporate a central 5th strake for those running a tat...? Can't draw one on the iPad but imagine a fat paper plane with a hole cut out of the nose end.

Thats the shape I'd go for but I need to know how much people would be prepared to pay before I get the laser company blasting sheets of stainless. Think it might be quite dear due to the size of it.

No idea what the costs would be and for me I would also want it black to match my tat. Maybe 30-40 or am I in dreamland price wise?

if you were pulled out at an angle which is often the case I reckon this would buckle.

With the size of it I suspect it may come in around 60-70 and would be silver. I can always ask.

What about something like this with a crease to bring it down from the diffuser?

I reckon that would work fine. Its not towing the bismark.

Its a bit big so might be a bit heavy. A stretched version of the TAT one might be good.

Maybe I'm being dense, but couldn't you just make a strengthened hole in the back of the diffuser?

I don't think diffusers were desingned to drag out 2000 pounds of car out of the gravel.

Not really because you need room around it to get a hook onto it so it needs to stand proud of the diffuser.

I know what you mean about the weight, but I was thinking it would be a much simpler (and therefore cheaper) option than the ones that look like scaffolding.

Just cut the inside out then so it looks like a thick wire coat hanger?
