Now it was time to relocate the wires on my TB-connector so I could use my new 68 mm TB in my s/c build. Armed with Chris_uk:s and Smileys guides i started to disconnect and connect. Of course my colours didn't match Smileys. I had a lot of browns and black/red ones. (two of each) But I was confident and undid one clip, then the the other and put the other one in the new location at once. Trying to get the TB to work was no succes though. Ignition on and all I got was two tic, tic from the engine bay and a 999 degree reading in the engine tempature on the stack. No movements on the TB. So I tried to put everything back to original and try my old TB. Tic, tic and 999 degrees...... Have I managed to misplace my wires after all or is it something else that I have done wrong? Oh, if I don't connect a TB I get the ordinary hissing sound from the fuelpump and some relays.

unless someone amending them chris_uks photo is wrong to get 999 on engine temp i imagine you havent pluged the temps sensor in.

Yes. I did manage to get the wires wrong first but then I reread the WHOLE thread and saw Exmantaa:s answer and looked again at Smileys guide but that didn't help. And no, my temperature sensor is not connected. Thank's for that tip.

if your temperature sensor isnt connected then this is why you are reading 999 hmm.. .sounds like you have missed a wire swap.. you need to buzz out the wires from the ecu pin connectors to the tb plug. you also need to find the info unless vocky has his handy book with him!

First go back to standard. "Buzzing the wires & pins" as Joe said => http://www.speedster...e Z22SE - 2.pdf (Y29 being the TB. Your wire colours may be diffferent but the pin #'s should match.) After that, follow the guiding in Smiley's thread, as that lists the correct pin swapping. thumbsup

I fitted the very first 68mm TB onto the z22se engine, way back in 2005, so here are my original wiring details pin A blue still goes to pin A - blue pin B brown/black goes to pin H- black/brown pin C black/white goes to pin G - brown pin D blue still goes to pin D - blue pin E brown/red goes to pin F - black/red pin F black/red goes to pin E - brown/red pin G brown goes to pin C - black/white pin H black/brown goes to pin B - brown/black this is how the 68mm tb should be wired to the ecu plug A= pin 55 B= pin 57 C= pin 43 D= pin 26 E= pins 15 & 16 F= pins 13 & 14 G= pin 45 H= pin 36

Ha, that's why I could not edit my post, but was writing something similar: :happy:

The above config is seen from the pin side. (Black TB connector is marked A to H)

Original Z22SE TB:
X22 pin => TB connector pin = colour (differ between years)
---------------------------------------------------
55 => A = Blue
36 => B = Brown or Brown/Black
45 => C = Black/Red or Black/White
26 => D = Blue
13+14 => E = Brown/White or Brown/Red
15+16 => F = Brown/Red or Black/Red
43 => G = Brown
57 => H = Black/Red or Black/Brown

And that matches with Vocky's guidings. :D

Thanks a lot. It is working again. It is opening in a very slow and erratic way but closes as a lightning. I suppose that is the way it should behave. I'm sorry boys but you lost me at the X22. I assumed it is the J2 connector at the ECU but even if I took it apart I couldn't find more than one figure (nbr 16 brown/red) So I unhooked all the connectors from the big plastic TB multiconnector and started to connect the four cables that I KNEW was rigth straight into the TB and then changed the other four until it worked. I am happy now. All I have to do now is to locate another plastic multiconnector since I manage to brake a couple of the very small black retaining pins in mine. Sigh! Is there any other Opel/Vauxhall models that use the same TB connector?

the z1.6 / z1.8 engines share the same tb plug, as found in corsas, astras and zafiras

How on EARTH do you manage to finf something like that. I am really impressed.
I find the american web-shops very hard to find anything useful in.
If I don't find one in my local scrapyard next week all I have to do is order it.
Thanks a lot Denthrax.

Already knew it was a Delphi connector so started searching. As an IT guy google is my second best friend :glare: Those guys at EFI are really quick, ordered a set with cables and got it 3 days later! And they also have about every other connector used with our engine! Glad to help!
