Going out and testing combinations is going to be key. National brake testing laps? ;)

You might want to save that for a airfield day.

I have a set of these that I bought from Steffen that were never fitted and I have no use for them now so will be selling them on. Sorry to hijack your thread Steffen :blush:

These have been sold btw.

Since yesterday the handbrake solution on my car is ready. It's still a prototyp but there are only details to solve. The power is now strong enough. It isn't anymore, like in the beginning of the project, a modified Hispec brake. We produce the brake completly by our self. Think we will be ready for sell the solution at the end of may.

Price is still to decide. It is very important to know how much pieces we can produce, if there are only 20 pieces the price will be not so good, if we can make 50pieces it will be good! Depends very much of the interest in this solution.

Ok... 44.5mm front pistons (stock) and 28mm rear pistons (stock) give a 60:40 ratio of braking from front to rear.

Brake area constant 2764, with a 5:1 slave/master ratio.

If you use the "bolt on" ap calipers with asymetric pistons then you should be on 31.75mm/36mm leading/trailing
1008 + 1296 = 2304 ( and 784 rear) This is 16% more braking than standard - if you've gone for 308mm disks thats 21% more braking than standard.
Balance = 64% front to 36% rear.

This is why it upsets bias.

John, Where did you get the measurements for the rear piston? My measurements show it's 36mm, which gives a brake bias of 75/25 %

I was corrected if you look. Its still 60/40 though, as I used the correct size when i did the calc. You know you only count pistons on one side of the disk? Will avoid a discussion about reaction forces.

CORRECTED:- Ok... 44.5mm front pistons (stock) and 36mm rear pistons (stock) give a 60:40 ratio of braking from front to rear.Brake area constant 3276, with a 6.2:1 slave/master ratio (higher is spongier but more assisted). If you use the "bolt on" ap calipers with asymetric pistons then you should be on 31.75mm/36mm leading/trailing1008 + 1296 = 2304 ( and 1296 rear) This is 10% more braking than standard - if you've gone for 308mm disks that's 17% more braking than standard.Balance = approx 66% front to 34% rear. 6.8 : 1 slave/master This is why it upsets bias.

Cheers John, certainly useful information to have down. I assume for increased disc size you're just calculating increased torque applied by the caliper?

Sure. ..thats a guess though. Its the centreline of the pad thats important, rather than overall diameter. Ie a massively deep pad radially will actually provide less torque than a shallow one onthe outside edge.

Very nice, do you know of the weight saving in comparison to the Brembo calipers?

Do you still need the AP bracket adaptor or is this built in?

To put the price in perspective, a single brembo caliper costs the same as a pair of these. If this had come along a month ago I know what I would have gone for.
