Is the Cab Unit Shifter Box the same as the later Elise Unit with the Toyota Engine? Does it have the Shifter & Hand Brake Lever in one Unit?

If you ask cliffffffe nicely he might be able to nick the original tuthill cables off my old car, they have near perfect travel and articulation :)

Have you modified these cables? Or were we getting them right at one point?

Slindy's were right out of the box which is why we can't figure out why the other sets supplied more recently have not worked. I can send you my shifter as well as the cables but I do need a promised turnaround as I have a race car build schedule to keep to.

Mine were technically 'custom' cables with threaded ends at both ends rather than the one threaded end and one 'shaped' end that the current ones are. I simply fitted a lump of Ali with 16mm holes for the cables in the cabin end. My solution wasn't exactly fit and forget but I didn't mind a fettle to get them right.

Just spoken to Anton, we are 10 minutes away from a permanent fix as he has seen where the travel is limited and can fix it quickly and simply. I will sent off my gear shift mech and I reckon we will have a final solution within a week. So hold out all you potential cable buyers, these will work.

Thanks to Mike, I now have the understanding of why our Cable was not functioning. It was a combination of travel & articulation. Although the Cable when not installed had sufficient travel, once installed the required travel was reduced because of the articulation required. Our Rod was passing back into our Conduit Cap. Some early prototype Conduit Caps had larger internal diameters which allowed for extra articulation, while later ones did not, hence the confusion of why early cable worked & later did not. This all said, I now believe to have a design which will work 100% of the time. Will there still be an interest in the VX220 community for our product? Thanks Anton

Given a straight forward fit with no/little messing around and a sensible price, then I'm sure there's a market. Especially if they prove less susceptible to damage from heat. thumbsup

I am sure there would be demand as such but personally what would the cost be and would you do a price structure for a group buy?

I think they were about £200 a set and I am confident Anton has this nailed now.

Magic! The gaiters on the end of mine have perished. If I've not used it for a while they get stiff but free off after use. I guess its just a matter of time for me. Top Job Anton!

I'm am going to arrange for 5 sets of Standard Cables & 3 sets of Turbo Cables to be built. They are £150 a set, but unfortunately we add carriage & VAT this takes them up to £194.40 if to be delivered to the UK. We would need to quote carriage out of the UK on an individual basis. Please let me know if you want a set.
