FFS this country has gone fcuking crazy! Your CRB for school is to prevent/avoid kiddy fiddlers coming into contact with children in the workplace and not to get teachers fired for minor motoring offences. Boils my p*ss this kinda thing...... I can understand why "they" want teachers to be fine, upstanding citizens but FFS, you are fully qualified to teach kids, you are not expected to act like a saint....!

We do full crb disclosures at work. If anything shows up then we speak with the potential employer to give them a chance to explain the circumstance.

I can see that you did the right thing for your position though dave.

Lets see if anything happens when I get my new system fitted :ninja:

yep, i would just rather avoid that conversation if needs be... for now!
- my mate worked as a resident artist at the school for a while, he got fined for urinating in public and it flagged up!

I do agree with you, but at interview, would you rather have the guy with no flags or alerts, or the same guy with the same qualifications and driving without an MOT, threats of an ASBO, urinating in public etc etc. With schools having 40+ applications put in for 1 position in general, and i do tend to go for the upper sort of jobs in independent schools which tend to attract the higher salary and have things like accomodation i need to watch what i do - it is a competitive market out there.

i agree that some things things that would not affect how well i do my job, but a reflection of character would potentially come into question.

Jesus, It really comes to something in this country when you are worried about a loud(ish) exhaust on a car triggering a flag on a CRB Did you read any government papers/guidance on vetting and barring? I'm sure you must have and know the 'offence' has to be 'serious' in nature and related to the caring/nurturing nature of the role? If I were your potential employers I'd be more worried about you suing them for wrongful discrimination if they thought a minor traffic offence ruled you out lol

that is a very fair point that, although how could you prove that was the reason when you dont get called to interview?....

My missus just recently got promoted to a position where she will sit on an interview panel. She went on a course today to give her a broader understanding of the process of candidate selection and the tick boxes you have to tick to cover yourself when a candidate asks for a FOI on your scoring pre and post interview. Records have to be kept and recorded on the selection and shortlisting process. Something tells me a 'loud' exhaust wouldn't qualify as a reason to discriminate against you in a teaching role

Being in a similar position myself, I have complete sympathy, and I actually think it's not THAT unreasonable to think that if someone is conducting themselves in an unseemly way, then perhaps they shouldn't be looking after children!

That said, you only do your CRB once you've passed the interview, so things like this you would be fine. But I see why you're reticent to push your luck...
