Interesting article in Evo mag this month.
"Driving enthusiasts have been warned that using their cars on 'track days' could invalidate their warranty. More and more people want to learn high-speed driving, but it is causing manufacturers to redefine what's acceptable wear and tear. They're advising owners to check the small print before venturing on to a circuit."
"Most makers say the warranty is null and void if a car has been entered into a time trial, motor race or rally. However, track days and performance training are a grey area. A Nissan spokesman warned owners of its high-performance Skyline: "The warranty states the car isn't covered for circuit or competition use."
I think it's rediculous if manufacturers build cars capable of serious performance and then don't expect them to be used in that manner.

The funny thing is that Opel Switzerland invited us to a track day in Hockenheim
So if it does invalidate the warranty...

All the manufacturers are looking into this, there was an interesting thread on www.bm3w.co.uk about a guy who needed a new gearbox and BMW GB told him to feck orf cos it was on a trackday. Since then they're relented and said warranty still covers such use.
We haven't seen anything specific from Vauxhall yet but the weight of opinion is that we'll be OK. I'll check with them though.
