Haven't had a renewal quote come through from Adrian Flux, it's due on 15th March. Is that normal?

So far the picture is my best result thumbsdown.

Add your mum as a named drive or a female you live with over 25. Keep on the drive rather than garage. Make sure the amount of miles you will do is accurate.

Was thinking of SORNing till my birthday then trying CCI actually, but will try need to insure first. Cheers Joe, I take back my immature comment now you've been useful to me  .

Zoobeef - have already tried the 'tricks' as it were, this is the best including those. Only thing I've found to improve is increasing voluntary excess to £1000 drops the quote another £250ish.

Dab of Oppo - haven't tried Sky before but will try a quote now.

Give Matt a call at 'Henderson Taylor' it will be the modifications jacking the price up through 'regular' insurance companies Pay £300 less on a st4 Turbo with 'open' modifications clause (i/e I can do anything to the car except increase the power without telling them!) than my 'old' unmodified Elise through Confused.com * both polices were with Aviva as well! - give Matt a call top bloke!

Si, on Admiral add several named drivers, preferably all female, over 60 and retired for your best bet (just stick some made up details in to a made up policy. This way you can change different bits until you have squeezed the admirals balls as hard as you can, then start a brand new quote using real details). Declare car on drive not in garage, and have a play around with your job (I found engineer was cheaper than manager. I think I can get away with it as I am a Production Engineer Manager). Also, try a 10 month policy to get a bonus accelerator. Incidentally, who are you currently insured with and what was your previous premium?

Price comparison sites are a waste of time imo. Its old school but ringing round and bouncing prices from one company to another is the best way.

Are you guys saying it usually cheaper to declare the car as parked on a driveway than a garage? If so, why? I would have thought a car would be far safer in a garage...

Yep - but it's only true for some insurers, Admiral group being one of them. Their explanation to me was that it's easier to steal a car from a garage than off the street (not sure where driveway fits into that equation), by breaking in and stealing the keys rather than the old-school hotwire method.

For me, I found the road was cheapest and Driveway and garage added £10 onto the price.

and also there was a comment from an insurer I spoke with that accidental damage claims rose when in the garage.
