So I would like to mount my phone somewhere in the cabin. I want to use it for the Torque App and/or GPS, not bothered about the phone as such. I have used the search function and found answers from a few years ago but most photo links are now broken. So please share with me what you have, my preference is non destructive. Also any solutions for power also appreciated. thumbsup

I've got the phone holder part of a car mounting kit from ebay, with just the phone holder cradle, attached to the front of the drivers sill (just below where the pocket is) stuck with some velcro. Power comes from a curly cable in the lighter socked, routed around & under the driver seat and ticked into the sill & trim to keep it out of the way. I'll get a pic tomorrow when it's light...much better to see it than descrice it.

That's a good solution. I've just wired in my satnav to the same power source as the radio which is more work but then there's no cable and the lighter is still free for the heated seats/phone.

OK, some pics as promised...a day late as I was busy refitting the front clam. I can drive it again now

Nice and low so doesn't attract any attention to anyone outside the car, just be careful with your foot as you get in and out if you mount it here.

Like the thermometer. I have exactly the same one, just haven't fitted it yet. Maybe I put it the same place. Where did you put the exterior sensor?

Hi Kurt,

It's a bit crappy, but fills the otherwise useless pocket cutout and you get a luxury clock! Routed the sensor cable up an over the door hinge (just clear taped a couple of cm's to keep it in place). The sensor is tucked down by the ABS pump in the engine bay. It's not going to be really accurate for the ext temp, but if you jump in the car on a cold morning, at least it'll give you an idea of the outside temp.

Ok, I will re-double my efforts and follow your lead. By the way, mine has been lying around in the garage and the internal temp is consistantly 1+ degree higher than the outside!

The bracket is wedged under the black dash bit. It's been there for nearly 9 years now without issue.

Can you still buy the same bracket that you have used? Found this but not sure if it will work it not? http://www.apple.com/uk/

I've gone through a few cheapy suction mounts which always did the job but due to the suspension being quite firm usually they fell apart of kept unlocking themselves with vibrations.

Finally splurged for a decent RAM mount and it's the bomb, Quality is top notch and built like a tank.

I got the universal but there are speific iBOB mounts, in fact just about a mount for anything.

It was like going from Gaz Nickels to Nitrons :D
