Well I think John did bloody well out there, he finished race 2 on the same lap as the leaders, not a bad result.

I suppose it depends what you call not bad. The fact remains that the car was around at the last race of last season, compared to the MG which is less than 3 months old. On the other hand he has done better than anyone here.

Agreed, for all the poking fun at JT ( = moi) I say good luck to him. He's managed to get himself there so fair play.

I watched from the Clios onwards yesterday and thought the day was an embarrassment for British motorsport. I've attended banger races that resulted in less damage. You gain the impression all the drivers on the BTCC bill think they can mirror the contact for entertainment culture of the BTCC. The only certain result is bigger bills for all and many talented drivers priced out of racing. JT did well. To be a second or two off the pace with no history at that level and a new car is an achievement.

I was so ill yesterday that as I lay on the sofa in pain I fell asleep and collectively watched about 20 minutes of all the races and missed all the good stuff. So annoying

Agreed, what people forget is most of the other new drivers usually buy some of the last years winning cars,so straight away get to have a head start,if he had followed suit and bought a last years vectra or civic maybe he would of done alot better, but things need to move forward and the insignia looked a treat.just a shame vauxhall and triple eight aren't running new vauxhalls any like the good old days!

No, just had d n v on Saturday night through Sunday and was horrendously washed out on Sunday. Spent the whole day under a duvet asleep on the sofa. After that slept another 12 hours last night. Typical I am better for work today

race 3 was certainly his best effort , just 1 place from a point JT best laptime of the day was 51.968s , compared to days best of 48.845 , both in race 1, ~3 seconds

But the MG was built by 888 and they know a thing ot two about building a winning touring car. The Insignia was mainly put together by a small company started by an ex city trader that mainly services Vauxhalls.

Fair play to get a car on the grid, let alone finish the race. Imagine how much that could improve if they A. Had a BTCC driver, B. Had some decent testing and developing with a BTCC driver and C. Had the budget MG threw 888 to get it right.

Nope, hats off to John.

I suspect the budget that MG threw at was tinier than tiny.

Just watched yesterday's fun and games. Given the state of his car (and budget) on Saturday, I reckon they did well to make the first race let alone finish all three of them. Yes, he looked a little silly with the car constantly spinning off but fair play to John for sticking with it (not sure I could have done). I hope they manage to resolve whatever problem he's got in time for the next round and that he's got enough in the kitty to make the grid. Will then be interesting to see how he fares with a reasonably competitive (or just reliable) car and no mechanical excuses to hide behind.

They've got sponsor issues today.... Victorian Plumbing are claiming that John removed the sunstrip before race 3, where it appears that it fell off during race 3.

Maybe the sunstrip was causing the spin issues he had?
