I suspect the budget that MG threw at was tinier than tiny.

You may be surprised then.

Lets just be clear. Its not really a MG just a rebadged chinese car (Roewe 550) that was based on the 75. Also its only put together at Longbridge not really built there. Them Chinese do have some money though!

Things are looking bad at Thorney Towers. Looks like he won't be out at Donny or Thruxton.

only if said piece of paper was folded in half, with a rude "I am a massive doodah, signed" on the hidden half.

I've never been to a BTCC round before. Planning on going to either Oulton or Croft in June. Anyone an opinion on the better venue to spectate touring cars?

I've been avoiding this thread as my Sky + crashed midway through race three and I wanted to watch it before coming on here! Big up Plato!!!! As soon as he learned that cheeky move through clearways from Neal he wsa unstoppable!! A push and shove here and there is fair game imo. Great racing and a cracking car!!

BTCC at Donington this weekend.

Looks like JT made it back out:

Newsham moves to the top

Dave Newsham set the fastest Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship lap of the day so far in Donington Park’s second free practice session.

Newsham became the only driver yet to dip beneath the 1m11s barrier with a best time of 1m10.967s in his Team ES Racing.com Vauxhall Vectra. The Inverness racer’s fine form follows the career-first pole position he achieved at Brands Hatch two weeks ago.

He said: “The Vectra and I just seem to get along very well – it feels great to be right up there again. Let’s see if we can carry this speed over into qualifying but I’m sure the lap times are going to come down some more.”
Reigning Champion Matt Neal was second fastest, just 0.050s behind Newsham, in his factory Honda Yuasa Racing Team Honda Civic. Third was the man he is chasing for the lead of the championship following Brands Hatch’s opening round, Jason Plato in his MG KX Momentum Racing MG6.

Second and first fastest respectively in this morning’s opening session, Andrew Jordan (Pirtek Racing Honda Civic) and Mat Jackson (Redstone Racing Ford Focus ST) were this time fourth and fifth. Neal’s team-mate Gordon Shedden completed the top six.

Seventh, having set the fastest first sector of all on the last lap of the session, was Rob Austin’s Rob Austin Racing Audi A4. Jackson’s team-mate Aron Smith was ninth while, having sat out much of the earlier session following a costly spin, Robert Collard’s eBay Motors BMW was ninth ahead of the sister car of Tom Onslow-Cole in tenth.

Behind 11th-placed Frank Wrathall’s Dynojet Toyota Avensis, Andy Neate started to show a more representative pace with the 12th best time in the second of the factory MGs – the last driver to get within a second of Newsham’s best.

Meanwhile there were spills for several drivers. John Thorne’s Thorney Motorsport Vauxhall Insignia toured back to the pit lane after spinning into the gravel trap at the chicane while both Jeff Smith (Pirtek Honda) and Adam Morgan (Speedworks Toyota Avensis) ended up off the track at the exit of the Old Hairpin. Smith was able to rejoin the track but Morgan’s car needed to be towed to safety, this requiring a brief red flag stoppage shortly before the end of the session.
