Is a heat shield/wrap necessary?

you can either modify the original heatshield to fit (hammer abuse), fit some nimbus to the clam (instead of that crap silver plastic) or wrap the manifold

And none of the above will result in melting the clam (or worse)?

although I'm not looking forward to taking the clam off to fit the manifold though!!

Sliding it back 10cm could be enough.
(still requires all bolts loose though)

Anyone else down south on this GB? If so anyone wanna meet up and tackle fitting of both at the same time?

I may be up for that. I was just going to buy it and put it in the shed until I worked out what to do with it! Probably would have taken it to PSR to do...

Can't say I'm in a real rush. Would like to take the clam off and do a little bit of cleaning and servicing while I'm under there.

the crap plastic stuff on the clam deforms due to the heat, all you need is a piece of Nimbus approx 450mm x 300mm to fit over the crap plastic stuff next to the exhaust manifold

Happy to ask, but not really sure what you need, I assume that if it is a downpipe with no cat in 3", he could do it, else if it is custom fit them again it could be done, but I'm sure he will need measurements.....? Sorry, no expert here, so need some specifics please :)

Having just bought some from Cliffie, I should have enough left to make another shield to save you buying a big sheet of the stuff.

Just PM'd everyone - trying to collect info for the GB. The GB may have to run to 8th May due to Andy Tullett's holiday (26/04 - 08/05) possible early option if it fits with everyone, but happy to wait to suit, but not beyond 9th May please! :)
