I have been thinking about this for some time since I had the small courtenay radiator which isn't ideal, and didnt want to spend mega bucks on the proally one. This is what I've come up with so far. It's a 30 core and a 19 core oil cooler which will be linked together, probably similar water capacity to the proalloy as these are quite thick, the proalloy must be quite thin to fit in the gap

I fitted 2x 25 row oil coolers in the front, one originally, then another behind it later. Would be about the same and very easy to mount :)

I've been looking at Sierra XR4x4 intercoolers with a similar eye towards avoiding the massive cost of a ProAlloy while still providing sufficient cooling. Will be interested to see how you get on with this as i'm planning my own SC build... and as you don't live too far away, any chance of a cheaky PAS ride?

Did you end up mounting a second oil cooler as one wasn't effective enough? Or was it to deal with an upgrade elsewhere?

Thanks in advance

I fitted a second when I went to the smaller pulley on the S/C, smaller pulley = more boost = more heat so I thought it prudent to improve the charge cooling. I never had any issues with just the 1 at Stage 2.

I fitted the same type as you Phear for my Stage 2 (25-row), but did you mount your 2nd rad directly behind the first one, or was it offset to one side to get more direct airflow?

Directly behind it but due to the shape of the crashbox / rad surround it is at approx 45 degree angle, so it isn't parallet to the original one. To mount it to the side I would have had to remount the first one and I couldn't be bothered to do that for the slight improvement in air flow. I did route the flow so that hot coolant went into the rear one first, thus reducing heat leakage back into the second rad.
