Here are a few photos of the recently completed anodising of various bits... I did the fuel surround too, though haven’t got an after photo as I stuck it on the car asap. If anyone wants any anodising done I thoroughly recommend Mansfield Anodisers (http://www.mansfield-anodisers.co.uk/). If you speak to Mervin, he will be able to sort you out ;)

It was £50 +VAT and delivery, so worked out at £70 all in. Given that anodising is a batch process, it makes sense asking around to see if anyone wants in, as the price wont go up much ;)

What's the finish like compared to powder coating?

Its quite different. Anodising isnt really adding a coating to the part (its an oxidisation) Its more like staining a colour. But it does help protect it. Powder coating is more like applying a hard coat of paint (its actually powder that goes through a heat cycle to allow it to flow and form the coat)

Look at the finish on your existing fuel cap and surround. That's anodised.

The dash top is alcantara and the last piece of the interior will be a matt carbon dash trim, so I recon glossy might look a bit stickouty. Thats a word I recon...

I believe it is sticky-outy...

Looks great, a really nice finish on them. Do you get any form of guarantee with regards to the durability of the finish?

Not really no. Ultimately, anodising alters the metallurgy of the surface of the metal itself and given the stability of the oxide layer it should last indefinitely. General wear and tear may scratch it and tarnish it, but pretty confident if treated with a bit of care (no more so than any other finish) it should last freakin ages :)

Yeah, it should do! I just wasn't sure about the handles and things that get touched. I guess worst case scenario after a while a few bits might end up shiny, but it's not like it's gonna be a high mileage car in constant use to get that sort of wear. I thought it would be dearer than that too, hmm...
