Well I want to do it a nice subtle dark grey but apparently that's not acceptable, needs to be some lairy, bright, in your face type of colour according to certain .org members....

A brighter color does bring out the extra new lines you put i there much better then a dark color.
Your car though.

Looking good. Do you think these will work for the rears too?

Yep, I've done a test fit, should be ok. Interestingly (well, to me anyway) the Connect rear arches are a better starting point for both the front and back on the VX.
Difficult to accurately gauge how much wider a wheel will fit at this point, I've 8 inch rears and expect to add at least another inch and a half on top, an additional inch on the front too.

looking intersting, with all the other molded lights I have seen these are the best... but I am a massive fan of the standard lights, so i am looking forward to dab's project. The rear spoiler looks great and really sets off the lights and glass bootlid well :) Looks like its been done really well but its not to my taste.

I've got 7.5" fronts and 9" rears and wouldn't mind a bit of extra clearance for wider tyres so this looks pretty good to me. How have you bonded them to the clam and do you have a cheap supplier for the arches? Cheers Steve

Ebay for the secondhand arches Steve, 2002-06 Transit Connect rear, there are new ones at 30 ish but the seconhand ones are fine and go for around the 20 quid mark plus delivery. I'll be fitting the rears at the weekend (if I can get the rear clam aligned properly :beat: ) so I'll take some pics as I go along, but basically yes, bonded on after some judicious trimming. Temporary bolts through the clam hold them to shape whilst bonding. There's no going back once you start though, it's not a job to do if you are precious about your bodywork!

Full marks Nige, loving it. Strange but it was your car that made me want to start the rear end modding on mine and look where that ended up. I look forward to it being finished, how long do you reckon? Two weeks after Luke's VAG is finished?

Echoing everyone else's comments Nige, on it's way to being a very unique VX. Now once the arches and respray are done...is that it for the bodywork? ;)

Yes, absolutely, I've forgotten what it's like to drive the bloody thing.

Still,

I've already cut a set of the front louvres in so I'm fine with cutting the clam. I feel a winter project coming on :)

I think the rear lights wouldn't look anywhere near as good as they do without that rea spoiler blended in. It helps set it all off nicely. It does look a little fezza-esque as has lready been pointed out. Think I'll reserve judgement till it's painted up to see the lines of it all better. So far though it looks very promising! Now if I can suggest a reworked front light once you've finished this project :)

Just a quick update of a bit more progress

Front wheel is a standard rear 17" x 8J with a 16mm spacer, could probably do with 5mm shaving off to pull it in a bit.
On the back is another rear, again with a 16mm spacer, plenty of room here for another inch and a half on the width.
Plan is to get the molds finished by the end of the Xmas break.
That's the plan anyway
