Anyone had any joy with Silverstone? I've just spoken with Paul @ Dick Lovett who said he's more than happy to explain the process to Silverstone Lotus if needed. So I was going to call Silverstone Lotus and ask if they could do it. It's a 4hr round trip for me to get to Maidstone! :(

Struggling to get past the phone lady thumbsdown Paul @ DL said it's a 20minute task that can be completed by a garage with a computer connection to Lotus (DL no longer have this). Trouble is, I need to explain this to a technician rather than the secretary :(

Lee that was the trouble I had with them, trying to explain to her was too painful. I bit the bullet and went to Maidstone on Monday as had some time off this week - it took less than 10 minutes but did go the long way home to test it out :)

Eventually spoke to a tech.... completely not bothered about helping or learning. After much discussion, he agreed they'd try it with no guarantee... Oh, and they can do it in 2 weeks time  Phoned Maidstone Sports Cars... "Yep, no problem, done 5 this week. Flat fee of £30+VAT, see you tomorrow"

Good work on trying Coco.
Can't believe Silverstone Lotus were quite so unhelpful. Could have been some easy money for them.
Looks like I'll be making the trip to Maidstone this week as well...

Just got round to fitting mine last night - bit of a PITA on the Europa as it is partially shrouded by the front clam, so I had to slacken all the fixings on one side to reach the mounting set screws. :(

Silverstone were fine about me booking my car there but earliest slot was mid July. Am about to try Stratstone in Leicester...

... who are just as booked up, so settled for Silverstone in a couple of weeks time

So a 4hr round trip.... for a 10min job. Literally, Maidstone Sports Cars could not have been more helpful if they tried. I rocked up after 2hrs in the car, they fitted the ecu module, coded it and sent me on my way. Complete contrast to Lotus Silverstone who could not have been less interested if they tried! All done and no ice mode encountered on the 110miles home thumbsup

While I'm here is there anyone in particular to talk to at Maidstone? G

Nope, I just rocked up and they knew straight away what the score was. Guys in the workshop grabbed the LotusScan3 and a torx screwdriver and 10 mins later all was done. Must call them to pay! Although they have my number and haven't chased me.

Well looks like I'm taking it down at 8:30 on Friday morning. 4hr round trip for me as well, not including traffic. Cutting it fine for the nationall. I assume you just took the unit down seperately Coco, and they swapped it there?

Yep, I drove with OLD ABS unit in place, as I wasn't sure on weather so wanted at least some ABS rather than none :) They swapped it, coded it and sent me on me way again thumbsup

Thanks mate.
Will do the same then.

Looking forward to having some real confidence in the ABS system for once

I was well happy with this on track at the national - I left the ABS on until around 4pm, I got zero ice mode, and it didn't really intrude or seem to cut the braking that I could tell. There was a little bit of hard pedal once or twice when coming off the throttle and straight onto the brakes but nothing too serious. After 4pm, I switched it off then and did a few runs to compare. The brakes might have been a bit more direct, but I couldn't really tell much difference. I didn't lock up at any point either, so I was probably driving within the limits of the brakes anyway ...

I kept the ABS on and thought it was great too. managed to activate it a couple of times but it helped rather than hindered. Jimmy might disagree though

I don't have any previous track experience with the VX to compare it to, but I also left my ABS on all day. And i have to say I was impressed with it. Very little intervention from the system, and strong braking available at all times, without any sign of the hard pedal. Was reassuring on the way up and down to the National with all that rain as well. Spent most of the weekend trying not to talk about it though, as Naomi knows nothing about it (and specifically the cost of it). G
