Panels would be supplied as skins only and buyer would need to detail their own fittings.

I reckon thats the deal breaker :(

Both parts on my car weigh less than the roll bar cover.

Are yours carbon or fibreglass?

Also it just popped in to my head are there any issues when it comes to MOT with no longer having a rear brake light?

Carbon. No, no problems with not having a centre brake light. If it's fitted, it has to work. But if it's not fitted, then no problem.

I would probably be interested dependant on final cost, if closer to 1k than 2k then its likely to be a yes from me although the fittings situation does concern me slightly

My hardtop is secured using bonded bolts that go through lugs welded on to the roll hoop on the back and the cage at the front. It would be no real issues to come up with an alternative fixing procedure using the standard fixings.

Jimmy any idea on when this would go ahead if it does? Not got this kind of money spare but 1-2 months and I would potentially be able to. However, it's hard to get an opinion on something that changes how the car looks without seeing it in the flesh... I do love how it looks on a car with race livery/sponsors not so sure how it'd look without all these extra bits.

Roof fixings will probably be doable, but coupe back would need someone to create a nifty german style connector to the bolts just under the rollbar cover, and to move the lock section from the normal bonnet to the new coupe back. To bad it can't be egineered up front, as a 10 to 20k investment for some plastic is a bit harsh. Succes is in a completely removale setup, so car can be easily transferred to stock on resell. Then they wil sell.

The roof is straight forward although single skin is no good for a road car. I already have inner molds that will fit assuming the outer is taken from an OEM exige. I also have fixings of course. The rear is a bit more tricky but I know how it can be done. It will require removal if the roll bar cover but that can be reverted easily. I'm stacked out at the moment so if much more time was needed to spend finessing the molds and bracket designs it will probably be autumn by the time we could get to it.

Why is that?

And why would it be different for a race car

Will it work with a VX hardtop (any kind), or is the curve at the rollbar taken from the Exige ? Interested (really)

The brackets on hardtops attach to the inner skin. If you don't have an inner skin you are into bonding brackets to the outer skin (not guaranteed to stay on) or permanently bolting from the outside of the car into the structure of the car.

Given the price I'd expect this to end up costs and lots of issues I'd have to say I cannot see me being interested. Would rather spend what funds I have on other areas of the car. Good luck though :) there will be 10 very nice looking vx's out there...
