The thing is i would rather it didnt fail in the first place. maybe there is an easy fix, has anyone with a failed system contacted the tullets? and what did they have to say?

I'd not call it that.

There are a couple of question marks and given that there is a GB going on, it would make sense for either someone here to put those questions to Tullet and for them to give a reply, or for them to comment directly.

I think that's all that is required. :)

Right. I emailed them yesterday about it. I'll report back later. My cat lasted a whopping 500 miles before being replaced by a 2bular. I had to cut the ends of the heatshield to clear the entry / exit of the box as its bigger than most. I'm also slightly miffed as the flexi piece on mine is plated steel rather than stainless and is showing the signs of rust despite being in the loft. Warranty? Pffft!

Just spoken to Chris Tullett. They have changed their cat supplier to the manufacturer of the the cats used in Noble exhausts. These will be used in all of the systems manufactured for the group buy. Regards Paul

Hopefully they're bigger than the original cats. It looked like they used an identical one to the Piper systems which is just too small when compared with the size of 2Bular's cats. I'm sure that contributes to some of the sound difference as well.

Warranty only last 2 yrs I think, after that you need a new cat. They will reweld a new cat in to your current downpipe at a cheaper rate. The guy did say he thought that the main issues lay with supercharged cars.

No fail, but... My 2.5" end section required heatshield cutting to fit. (i can live with that, as long as you know ahead, that you need to fiddle a bit with some nimbus to put it right. The trumpet effect the end section has, was huge. Almost made 98db on flyby andi was the biggest chav in the street. After fiddeling with diy piping on the end to get rid of the trumpet effect, but maximise airflow, i could clearly hear less noise. I really feel that Chris should be able to create a more track friendly end section, just by putting some R&D into it. His current statement with the acousta fill to fix it, is just plain silly, and proven wrong by many now. I am doing a 95 limit trackday next week. If my stupid diy piping without major restriction works, then we have our answer i think.

For the worried GB people; if you don't track your VX, this kit is awsome, and i have no regrets buying it. It's just for the trackers, that the promesses are a let down in my opinion.

I agree. Its the noise levels they promise on and dont deliver. The quality of fanbrication is excellent.

What has also been missing from this thread (in ddition to Turbo/na)is detail of: 2.5 in or 3 in 100 cell cat or 200 cell cat Mine is turbo as said but also 3 inch and 100 cell. It is near the mark on some tracks but has been acepted at Goodwood which is pretty strict. Also stage of tune will affect noise levels.

OK, mines a stage 2 SC with a 3" system. All the cat failures seem to be with this system and I have yet to see one of these systems "meet all trackday noise limits" up to 270 bhp as claimed. From what I've heard / seen of the tubby systems they work as they should. Can't comment on NA's.

The tubby guys are in the lead here, as the turbo unit seems to act as a noice filter. Kuddo's to them. The SC boys are fooked BIG time if they track. (on the road, it's just chav, like a larini). Mine is an SC and the tullet is a 200 cells full 2.5". (though i believe the end box trumpets are the same for 2.5" and 3".

Drop the cat if you go tracking and fit the extra silencer. No cat problems and you get an awesome flamethrower function for free!!

However cool that is, all i want is a quite 2.5" system, and not spend to much time changing parts or worry about lights coming on on the console.
And after spending a K and a half, i don't have much urge to send more to chris.

Yes, it is far from perfect. As that is the system I have, I'm still looking into ways to get it more quiet for some tracks. I must say, that until know I never seen any EML lights (without the cat).

These are my tailpipes btw. It even has had accoustafill. Are they the same as your 2.5"? These split out from one 3" pipe coming from the box.

I hope to have stage2 SC power with a 2.5" manifold/down pipe with 200cell from Tullet. Then with a Miltek turbo 2.5" backbox for the low noise levels. Are the cat's in the 2.5" and 3" systems the same? Also those who have had failed ones, did you have exhaust wrap? I say this as having some on the manifold will only send heat down the chain (where the cat is) which in turn brakes them apart inside.

Mine was manifold wrapped and then on the bends. The downpipe was uncovered. My cat covered a whopping 1247 miles and will be £85.00 +vat. to replace. Not terrible but I'm a bit dissapointed that the old one failed so soon. Bit dissapointing that having spunked out 1500 quid on a system I now have to spend more on decat silencers etc to quieten it.
