Mine was manifold wrapped and then on the bends. The downpipe was uncovered. My cat covered a whopping 1247 miles and will be £85.00 +vat. to replace. Not terrible but I'm a bit dissapointed that the old one failed so soon.

Bit dissapointing that having spunked out 1500 quid on a system I now have to spend more on decat silencers etc to quieten it.

I remember you showing me the system the day I came to collect the hardtop. Did look like a great bit of kit at the time.

I just think that the heat wrap has added to the issue and hope with this new Noble cat things will last alittle longer.

I think the problem is the braze used to attatch the substrate to the container walls. It melts at too low a temp and is being destroyed. It either needs a staked cat or a different braze.

Got to love a bit of scaremongering.

It has warrenty so I'll use it if it fails.

Warranty only last 2 yrs I think, after that you need a new cat. They will reweld a new cat in to your current downpipe at a cheaper rate. The guy did say he thought that the main issues lay with supercharged cars.

Tullets warranty is one year. The fact that my cat did just over 1k was irrelevant. They will weld a new one in with no labour costs.

Just seen this thread. I had a HJS Sport Cat and a 2.5" Milltek Cat Back system system. Since the SC conversion, the Milltek centre section was completely burnt out and left an empty can along with the cat moving about inside its body. I had no EML, no emmission problems and was assured that the cat was still doing its job properly but I did get the cat changed and went upto a 5" dia. I also had the centre section remade by Longlife Exhausts who used a turbo application wadding. Both cat and centre are still going strong.

God, it's woefull to see another exhaust/cat thread like this from a 'recognised manufacturer'. It amazes me how company's like Tullet get away with it. I mean if they bought a job lot of decent cats they would be pocket money anyway. So stupid of them to save £50 and put crap cats in the system and mess up dozens of exhaust systems. I also put a big HJS sport cat in my exhaust system an I've had no problems with it at all even though it gets a volcano of exhaust gases. God know's why Tullet etc can't manage to do the right thing, bloody penny pinchers if you ask me. Matt, if you felt the inclination, I'd ask for a full refund and make your own as you are such a capable little welder. Or if you are feeling 'lazy' I can send your the details of the guys (Longlife (same as the poster above)) who made and fitted mine for £900 in a day (drive in/out service) - and that price incuded a 450 BHP rated cat, VAT, genuine lifetime guarantee, was fully SS (1.6mm walled) TIG welded, mandrel bent 304 and courtesy car!!

They have now changed their cats to those used in Noble exhausts. These are being used in the latest GB.

Strangely I have just welded in a 5" 100 cell homologated race cat. Now I just need to fix the damn noise. If suppliers had sent me the right parts I'd have made one by now. Gits sent the wrong bits and are refusing to do an exchange. Bah.

Why didn't they offer a choice of cats as an option, just pay extra and get one which doesn't break down after a few months
