It's 344Nm so is only 253ft/lbs and with a fcuking stupid 2.6" pulley that's probably killed his engine by now. Each step down in pulley size only adds 10-15ft/lbs along with higher inlet temps.

No good comparing peak figures. If you want to find how a car goes in a gear, work out the area under the torque graph. Of course you may only use a "band" of that, in which case look at the area under that part of the curve. - If its a narrow band you'll have to row the gearbox a lot more though.

No good comparing jack sh*t when you have a few high power VXs that can't keep up with a less than standard na as they have the wrong tyres on for the damp

Seems we need to see a SC and Turbo of same spec side by side to settle the debate

Lol. Yours does drive very well Mr Hand...if it was damp I'd have no chance! I've chased a 300hp SC down a track straight. There was nothing in it. (262bhp/306lbft) Anyones guess what gears we were in etc.... bring on the drag races!

SteveA and me did at Anglesey last year and there was nothing in it at all, him in a tubby, me in the SC.

Where the extra torque kicks in is the in-gear accelleration where the extra 110 lbft in the tubby just comes into its own.

Oooh, turbo vs Na/SC this one is older tha Nitron/Gaz  I can't wait for the National!! It will be my first outing of the year, I just hope I can get the car to Courtenays in time or else I'm going to be on a base map..... Techie and co: Would you be worried about tracking on a stage III base map...?

I'd need someone lighter to drive mine. It'd be no good hauling my ass AND all that pig iron down a drag strip! TBH I'd take a set of semi slicks over 50bhp on a track. Jimmy, your yellow paint makes it look like you're going faster. It wouldn't be fair!

Happy to give you a pax ride when dry  or better still you race the side by side as we all no the extra weight in the vx (tubby boys) slows us down

It seems a lot extra 110 lbft , you would think that would let the Turbo pull away all other thing being equal.

I was told not to track it until the base map was removed as the fueling wasn't right.

The turbo throws a massive overboost peak at 3k, which soon drops off. The difference wouldn't realistically be as great as 110lbft I'd think.
