Santa Claws  The roads got better the further away I got, certainly wasn't pressing on either, more of a leisurely jaunt :) That's a good idea for springtime Nicol, I'd quite like to see your SC'd beastie! Wow, didn't expect the Parts to be that expensive, I'll be giving it a go myself anyway...what's the worst that can happen? ...said the guy with a driveway full of cogs and springs :D unlucky with the mirror! Maybe the cretin caught a glimpse of their own reflection and lashed out in shock/self defence!

Not much has been happening, just been driving it a lot. I've been buying up a few parts to be fitted in the spring too.

Treated it to a wash today, the first since about August!

It had been raining this morning, so the dirt was quite damp and doesn't actually look all that dirty...

One bucket of suds later...

My only major gripe so far is my front roof seal has eventually packed in, I've had a turbo one in my wardrobe since about July (wardrobe has been bone dry to be fair to it) But I can't fit it till I renew the vinyl on the inside of the windscreen surround as it's all coming away and looks pants. Is that a part that can be bought specifically or have I to get creative with some black vinyl?

Possibly an option...
I have a set of Turbo Splitters that will be getting the carbon wrap treatment

It was last washed in October, so it didn't really need one...if only I had known at the time! :P

A little video I made last month, hardly the greatest piece of footage, but you can see what I mean about that piece of vinyl on the inner windscreen surround

I have those exact same stone-chips on mine. Did you retro-fit them or did they come with the car? ;)

Got cracking with some pre-hoon work. Deleted the passenger seat, lumbar support, made a massive difference, but still not what I'd call comfortable, so I've ordered some 20mm thick memory foam, it should be here on Tuesday. Ordered 2x 400x150x20mm sections, so if the passenger side works out well, I will do the driver side, will update in due course. Frightened you touch anything mechanical so near the hoon now. I was going to give it a service, change the exhaust manifold and put a tad less camber on the fronts while I was replacing the HCBs and do the gear cables. Knowing VXs... the head would crack, the oil filter would require new gaskets, I'd knacker a hub and snap about 5 manifold bolts, with the gear cables falling apart on removal and the new ones being too short

Must admit, I have really dropped the ball. My VX is currently SORN and the MOT expired last month. It still has 1000odd miles of hoon dirt/brake dust and whatever I did for the rest of May thumbsdown It's up on ramps just now, I got round to changing the exhaust manifold (Cheers Nicol!). I did it with the clam in place, a bit of farting about but do-able...just. Did a pre-cat delete while I was at it. Hopefully I'll get the gear cables and HCBs done tomorrow, adjust the handbrake cable, change the gearbox oil, fit a new wiper blade then it's time for an MOT. I can only manage weekends, so next Saturday hopefully in time for my weekend away. Failing that I'll need to take the 500 on my trip up north  A weeks holiday driving a 650cc Buggy, a week of normal work then 2 weeks on call and having to use my van for every journey has totally reset my sense of pace. My MK2 VW Caddy 1.6tdi is feeling quite pokey with its 100bhp and Golf-like handling...really can't wait to get the VX back on the road. I just need to get the finger out!! :9mm:

Left hand manifold badly cracked just at the collector, sounded terrible under load when cold, perfect after about 2 minutes though, probably an MOT emissions failure too

Yip, it has improved the seat considerably! The size of foam was spot on too as any thicker or wider, the leather wouldn't have gone back to where it should have been. It passed the Highland Hoon test and have had various complaint free trips since thumbsup I just got the foam from an online foam suppliers, they cut it to size and deliver next day. A cheap and simple task :)
