Took the car to it's MOT earlier and and had a bit of a shock when I met the first junction, stomped on the brake with not much obviously happening. A bit of further driving revealed that under gentle braking all seems fine but once a bit more effort is required the pedal hits a hard spot and the brakes seem to reach the most effective they're going to get i.e. not very. They do slow the car down but not with any urgency. From a bit of browsing, it seems that a hard brake pedal can be related to servo/servo pipe problems. When I was fitting the ITBs the pipe had to be disconnected and at the time I removed the one way valve. I've obviously put this back in when I connected everything back up but as far as I know this is all I've done that might have an affect on the brakes. Is it possible that I've ballsed something else up with my tinkering? Is there anything obvious that I can look for that may indicate trouble? The fluid is in need of changing but I'm waiting for my new hoses to arrive before I go there as I'll just have to do it all over again otherwise. ETA: speak of the devil, they've just arrived

Could possibly be a vacuum problem. Check over what you touched to make sure nothings leaking there. Also check the end at the servo as has a tendency to split

the one way valve is pointing the same as before?

I had the same problem, research seemed to point towards the servo/hose issue however, I also noticed it mentioned that disconnecting the ABS solves the problem (dont ask me what this has to do with the servo/hose as I dont see how they are linked). I was planning on putting a switch in for the ABS anyway so thought I would give it a shot and take it from there, I am pleased to say since disabling the ABS I havent had the problem and I dont think it is just luck as I used to be able to initiate the problem every time I went out (as long as I found a decent stretch of road )
