I've just had a new roof fitted after the cable snapped on the old one (grr!) and whilst I'm hoping it'll be 3rd time lucky to get the cable adjusted tight enough so I don't get wet above 60, I also need to seal it... I've got about half a bottle of Autoglym stuff left from the old hood, but wasn't that impressed by how it went on. What should I do? Use it or get some Fabsil? I'd prefer if you only voted if you've used both.

Haven't voted, cause I've not used both, but very impressed with AutoGlym. Only used it 3 times in 12 months: last time about 4 months ago, and the hood still beads like a good-un. I've always cleaned it first though - not sure if that makes a huge difference or not. Getting my new hood fitted on Weds, and will be using Autoglym on that. HTH ps, also found it tightened the material up again as well.

I haven't voted cos I haven't used both...but I have used Fabsil and I have to re-spray fairly regularly dependant on how much rain and how many times I've taken the roof off I reckon. It still seems to last a month or two...or three

Haven't seen either on my local halfords.
I've used the Turtle Wax roof cleaner and conditioner and my fabric has remained pretty waterproof.

But if I see AutoG or Fabs forsale, I will snap it up.

My dad had a huge metal container of Fabsil and I used a big brush and soaked my roof with it (both sides) dried in 1/2 hour - sunny. Lasted for the 9 months I had my NA and my VXT 6 months up to now. Would imagine a spray-on not be as longlasting or effective. Never used the autoglym but I'm sure it all does the same stuff. Id say the key is to use LOADS one application should last a year - for that reason I'll use the Fabsil as that big cans' gonna last me a lifetime (Don't know how much it was or where he got it from though- knowing my dad it was 15 yrs old)

Autoglym comes in a soft top car pack or something with a cleaner spray at retails at a guide price of £19.95 (!). Fabsil's the cheaper option at about four quid a can. THe reason I asked the question is I'm not a big fan of how the autoglym stuff went on.
