Do you guys make your own spacers? Or are they available from TAT (or somewhere else)? //Johan

They don't need spacers, so there's nothing wrong with them. Just some people prefer the look of them lowered.

Do they even work? And if so.....proven, from what speed..............be honest.

The TAT short diffuser is a styling mod only. Some say that the longer diffusers dropped down by 3 or 4 inches from the underside of the rear clam might give some benefit. But, as far as empirical testing? Ha, ha, this is the VX world.

to get a diffuser to work (as I understand it) it need to be rather big and look rediculass, it should also contiune the "line" of the Undertray.. tat shorts are sold for looks rather then function, and they do look

this is an example of a reDonkulass one, however as its on the new race aston it still looks amazing

Looks for the road, as I thought they only work at higher speeds, i.e 100+ on track, same with spoilers and splitters etc. There is lots of posts that cover this

that TAT certainly has no aero affect. Its only marginally bigger than the oem rear tray. It does look  though.

Why are these difussers not made correctly in the first place, ie. incorperating spacers?
And if they need this spacing of which people talk why is this not supplied with the difusser?

These items are sold as being correct.................. have the designers/sellers not fully understood something?
Why is there a need to modify an item which is sold as fit for purpose?

Do they even work? And if so.....proven, from what speed..............be honest.

Korkey

The majority of diffusers are sold and fitted for looks only as to be fully effective, a diffuser would need to stick out a fair bit from the back of the car, so far in fact that MOT and law enforcement officers would not approve.

Proven is a difficult one because as far as I know, a VX220 with modified aero has never been seen in a wind tunnel. You can talk to me, MaxR, Jimmy Jam etc and we we all say we feel a difference and I am not taking my rear wing off again on track but whether we have improved or maximised the potential is unknown.

You can see here the difference between the height and length between my TA race car and Matty's shortie at 5mm lower than standard .

Good honest answers from Cliffie, and others. Cliffie. Can you expand upon your "feelings" please............. er, regarding the diffuser that is. And thank you for the pictures. I am not against straping items onto a vehicle ............. if they work that is. it would seem that the short diffuser is rather a gimick then? And for the "dress-up" types. Korkey.

It is difficult to explain, I kinda feel it through my arse if truth be told. We are fighting for tenths of a second in Time Attack and taking aero things off the car just makes the back end feel less planted but again, it is felt through the seat, Jimmy, Max and others will know exactly what I mean.

I am no great race engineer and I am limited in my ability to feedback in the way an F1 driver would do, I am more like Cole Trickle in that department but I can feel what a car is doing.

I am not sure that answers your question but it about the best I can do.

Cliffie I think my diffuser is bigger then yours

I feel mine works 80+ the car feels less "floaty"

if its real or just in my mind that another issue, myself and Mbez were talking about this just about the whole way up to national. Either way I can push harder.. The conclusion myself and Mbez come to was most of this is pointless because most of the time it comes down to balls.. 99% of the time you will bottle it before the car does...

any racing driver will talk about confidence in the car.. but for reference here is a pic of mine...

Thanks for the feed back and the pictures. It is always interesting to hear what others say. Maybe because I have a turbo.............and we know that they weigh in at about 3 tons, or there abouts............that is why I feel no instability whatsoever at up to a speedo reading of 150Mph for mile after mile. I have no aero aids at all. I do have a very good geo set up and slightly wider tyres. I keep "feeling" for this "floaty" feeling but never find it. Maybe that is because I have driven such appalling cars in the past, Healey, E-type, and a host of TVR's including Tuscan and Sagaris........two very bad handling cars there, And I have just got use to compensating for problems and driving through them. But I feel that the VX is not possible to improve upon unless you are 100% track car racing. Regards. Korkey.
