Nice bit of kit there mate and shame you got rid of the vx. I havnt read all the post on this thread but do you reckon you might turn it into a show car :poke:

Who me?? lol of course i will :)

Its taking a different route to the vx220 though, im going dark and moody and a little more oem, although quite track inspired. No lairy interior etc

Its up on axle stands already as the wheels are getting powder coated black, ive ordered 20mm hub centric spacers, de-ambered the headlights, de wipered the rear, fitted silvertec indicator bulbs, white led/smd's all round (sielights, interior, boot etc), and fitted 8000k hid's... I've owned it 9 days haha

I'll post up to date pics regularly if theres interest?

very OEM with double/triple K rated HIDS  :P

not sure where your going with that comment slindborg but theres plenty of factory cars running 8000k and 6000k rating headlights.. Ill get some up to date pics when the wheels are done and back on the car, its taken 5 days to strip the paint off so they're off to the powder coaters today.

Fred, I heard that the servicing is very pricey with a 911, is this something you will be doing yourself or a garage ? the 911 is a great car, I cant stop bloody checking them out on PH sales!

Yup, pretty much a case of go to porsche and you'll be paying silly money. companies assume if you can afford a porsche you'll pay over the odds for parts and servicing when in the real world they have come down so much in price, your average joe can buy one and use it as a daily instead of a sensible 2010 mondeo. mbes, i have a mate who'll do the basics for me, but anything else ill use a porsche specialist rather than dealer. froums are so usefull these days, problems are a lot easier to diagnose. Also its handy to have bought one with a new clutch and the oil seals replaced as these are the main things that go on the earlier engines.

I was chatting to a work mate who's got a 11 plate 997 Gen 2 Carrera, and he was saying that Porsche are abosolute B*stards when it comes to warranties. He was chatting to a guy who had his engine let go for no reason, not a problem, just a bit of an inconvienience as his Porsche warranty covered it.....or so he thought. Porsche found he'd fitted halfords wiper blades, this invalidated the warranty and they put the £18,000 engine replacement bill under his nose. I couldn't believe it! I'd be too scared to breathe just incase it invalidated the warranty. Don't get me wrong - if you pay year on year, the warranty will cover the life of the car....but I mean, wiper blades! blimey! He was said that Porsche will look for ANYTHING to get out of a warranty.

get the seller to have it checked first at a OPC , then as part of the deal have the OPC put a warranty on it.

I agree there is more to a 911 than outright pace, if that was what it was all about we'd all be driving £4k evo's or impreza's with 400bhp and not care about looking a tool :)

bang on Denno.

Right seen as a few people want the updates, if its ok with admin ill use this trhead as a sort of project diary??

Let's get some updates up!

Had the car 2 days before the mods started ;)
Dated headlights BEFORE...
Posted Image

AFTER... Headlights De-ambered and brought bang up to date...
Posted Image

The units were removed and the orange filters taken out with patience, a small pliers, and some more patience. (ohh and a hammer and chisel - but i don't like to admit that on the porsche owners club )

Next up white SMD sidelights and silvertec indicators...
Posted Image

Silvertec side reps...
Posted Image

8000K H.I.D's (shows old and new lighting)...
Posted Image
Posted Image

Wasn't feeling the wiper at all, rear wipers don't belong on prestige cars or coupes...
Posted Image

So off it came, much cleaner...
Posted Image

Interior lighting also changed to white SMD bulbs, along with the lights in the doors...
Posted Image

Then the Turbo wheels came off...
Posted Image

Stripped and prepped down to bare metal ready for powder coating.

In the meantime...
Posted Image

Hard to capture the colour so theres one pic with the flash and one without...
Posted Image

Its Lmborghini Aurora Borealis California Orange ;) It's the start of a theme ;)

They were brush painted red when i bought the car and needed attention badly! if they were factory silver id have probably kept them as it shows a carrera 4 from a 2.

The car currently sits on axle stands while i await the wheels...
Posted Image

I'm importing U.S. Porsche centre caps (black with the silver crest as oppossed to the gold and colour logo), just waiting on delivery...
Posted Image

I'm sticking with the Turbo upgrade wheels, it's what i would have put on if i didnt buy a 911 with them fitted.
However... I've just purchased 20mm rear spacers.

I guess this means I'll be needing coilovers soon??

Looking forward to seeing it with the black wheels. Not too sure about the obsession with the lights though, what's that all about? Maybe I'm just too old these days and not "down wit da kids" :ninja:

What obsession?

Merely updating lights to low power white smd's?

Who wants orangey yellow lights in 2012 when the technology is there for better? Every modern day car comes with bright white lighting now.
