For example say a 4 point cage finished in lambo aurora borealis orange?? ;)

Bumper, wing, cage, and exhaust are all on the list.

Big update really but minimal change in appearance...

The arches have been chopped on the inner lip, folded in, undersealed, the whole rear quarters repainted, from the rear of the door right back to the rear bumper and over the A pillars to the front mirrors. Rear bumper has also had a repaint to loose a few marks and I've finally got my 20mm hubcentric spacers on...

Before... (note the major rear tuck)

After... (with spacers)

Amazing the difference spacers make on some cars. About to order some for our R26.

Audio update...

With Porsche everything is overengineered, including the head unit. It couldn't be single din or double din size could it? Noooooo its double din and a half. So a quick search through ebay and its clear there is only double din fascias available. No problem - MDF it is.

A set of cup holder/drawers were ordered...

Bit of a ballache getting it all to fit and i'd have liked the head unit sat where the cupholders are. They're abit useless where they are as the heaters are in the way but there wasn't enough room the other way round.

Posted Image

Also bought a cubby hole for the bottom where the sat nav used to lay.

Also found out the Porsche has a 6 channel amp powering up a 10 speaker system. I was at a bit of a loss why i had no sound from my speakers when it was wired up, in the end i had to order a wiring harness which changed the ISO to RCA preouts.

Loving the pictures and the mods you have done. I have had a Porsche 911 turbo in the past but have moved on to the VX as it gets more looks. Still miss the porky though sometimes.

Strange move mate, but the VX's are awesome little cars!

Factory phone lol You actually need a simcard on a card to operate the thing, of which is illegal to answer anyway, don't really see the point in it myself but it's a talking point when people get in haha

Residuals are still fairly good but have softened quite alot in the last two years. A good time to buy as long as you research well to save big bills in the future.

A bit late replying moospeed but here goes...

Lots going on with the Bavarian Brute at the moment...

The Porsche has been and gone to Welsh Coast Customs for an exhaust Bypass. Basically the bends are so tight on the flat 6, that to increase pipe diameter for a custom exhaust, you'd struggle to make the bends. I went with the initial plan of a full system but i'd be paying a grand for something that wouldn't really benefit the car power wise due to the bends and the space.

So... I've had a 1.75" bypass pipe fitted. It's essentially a replica of a 'PSE' - Porsche Sports Exhaust, where a section is welded in to bypass some of the silencer. The result?? Its LOUD and the pipe choices range from 1" to 2.25" so i thought i'd be safe going for a happy medium.

And... My GT3 bumper's arrived! The second one! The first one turned up and it was indeed a GT3 bumper - however it was the 996 style, and I'd ordered a 997 style to fit a 996.
So i currently own 3 Porsche bumpers lol

Here's a teaser pic...

Hi all, Nice project, and its great when you can get a car just the way you want it, having owned a 996 carrera 2 with full GT3 aero kit, suspension and wheels, it was great but what frightened me to sell it a few months ago was the shear cost of replacing parts. I knew the MY96 engine was not the best designed and i suffered head gasket failure on 4-6 cyl, but I did enjoy the car and promised myself another one someday. I compared both my VX and Porsche in different ways, in shear point to point performance the VX would murder the Porsche BUT for outright pace the 3.4 litre standard engine and gearing would drag around the speedo to a genuine 181 mph if I tried to do that in the VX at 163 mph the steering goes spooky light and run out of revs. Also the Porsche was much nicer to listen to, there is something very satisfying in hearing the bark of a flat 6, mine had a by pass pipe on the muffler boxes and really sounded mental at 7,000 rpm (i do miss that). The Porsche was more refined and as it had the sports suspension handled really well, but when I put both on track the VX was 6.5 seconds a lap faster at Zolder. The time was lost in braking and acceleration (VX 887 kgs 360 bhp vs Porsche 1320 kgs 300 bhp). My conclusion is simple, in there own way both cars complimented each other, both had strengths and weaknesses. Both are very good at what they do. Enjoy Ian

Quite philosophical aimy :) I've not read this thread properly. But there seems to be a bit of the Porsche is heavy and slow therefore nkt a sports car. Well if out and out acceleration is your thing get a Yamaha R1. To me sports cars are about fun and looks as well as performance. The vx ticks all those boxes for me. A Porsche looks good and I would imagine is fun and compared to a lot of cars has reasonable performance. But it will have the benefit of comfoet, so I can appreciate the need to scratch that itch :)
